Gearhound

Origin

Gearhound is a former Knight of the Blue Sky who fought along side Shiba, the first Rave Master, his fellow knights, and the army of Symphonia. He fought against a kingdom called Raregroove and the Dark Bring.

Creation

Deerhound notes vol. 3

Hiro Mashima has stated that he based Deerhound's name after a dog's name just like the rest of the Knights of the Azure Sky. He has mentioned that he enjoys having a talking bear in his franchise and other talking animals. Deerhound's Japanese actor is Toshihiko Nakajima, and his English actor is Beau Billingslea (?).

Story Arc

Shuda Arc

He first appears as a bear who walks with Plue to find Haru. He did not tell Haru who he was, but he warns Haru about the vast caves and Demon Card. Also, he stares at Elie's face because he thought she look like someone familiar. (Resha Valentine)

He is seen again entering a waterfall into the cave. Finally, he appears before Haru and his gang after Plue finds the secret door in the cave. At first, he tests Haru's strength which Haru passes by using Explosion to knock Gearhound's axe.
