"i dare any one to like this character!" chalenge acepted. for 3 whole episodes i liked the character in question. Then the wheels started big time to come off the bus.The show survies on style with no substance. One could argue its a Clinton anime in that reguard.

At episode 11 half of the show is a flashback! That shows something went horibly wrong behind the sceens.Had high hopes for this series but as pointed out i could care less about the characters now.Heck it seemed like they was gona link Jou the guy in the white jump suite to a past gatchaman but that fell threw.

" Wrote as if a celeberty or rock star came in " ehh not exact quite the quote but kinda made me think of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gerard_Way but i thought some of his stuff was well recived.

To wash the disapointment out of ones minds eye i went 1st with

R.O.D. short 3 ova series is every thing anime should be. full of creative characters . stylish animation heck its every thing i had hoped to see in Gatchaman Crowds .With animation as good an a fast plot with hand fulls of action .So hope they have this on blueray some time soon.

http://www.crunchyroll.com/rwby its short episodes 12 minutes or so an its fairly stylish more i watch more i like. Really would like to see yall do quick drive by review on it.Keep in mind its anime style but i think made in Texas. http://roosterteeth.com/home.phpare the ones behind it.

http://www.hulu.com/#!the-devil-is-a-part-timer could also be another one.Fantasy anime turned on its head.More than a few laughs in this one.

Summer 2013 i think we can agree other than a few notable titans (cough) just was sucky on average.Heck even Blood Lad a seires i liked was only 10 episodes! An ended so open ended that it just cant recomend it .Heck i have been going back an wathcing Mobile Suit Gundam ,even caught up on Fairy Tail .Just not much this season.

Again hope fall is as good as it looks.

Wish I watched the old series to make a comparison to the new show. I enjoyed Crowds a bit.

@Marshal Victory:

To Sam and Tom, I recommend Kill la Kill. It's made by folks from Gurren Lagann. Plus, it's legally available on Crunchyroll.

Edit:

Didn't mean to reply to Marshal. Sorry about that.

@takashichea: no problem. Think Tom will like Kill La Kill depending on how much chibi to animation ratio is involved

@Marshal Victory: Well as I liked Clinton (way better than Obama) I wouldn't compare him to this at all. Now the show does sound really terrible...and sigh I wouldn't say either of these things about eden of the east and C either..I mean just throw in that time machine show you didn't like...

So your next comic is going to be about crowd sourced supper heroes?

@zaldar: Well the style over substance thing was a Clinton hallmark .Actualy some of his campaign managers long ago coined the term. Also when he 1st ran i got the pleasure of hearing him on a ohio radio station extole how coal plants were bad nuke was good. Then same day down the river ( literally) in west virgina he said nukes bad coal good. This was before the internets was what it is today so bold face lies would play regionaly fairly well.

In this reguard tho Gatchaman Crowds has tons of style an lacks substance so its a fiting term.Or at least a arguable point.Plan to watch 12 tonight to see how flat it falls or if they make a epic comeback.

Post by zaldar (1,278 posts) See mini bio Level 15

@Marshal Victory: well don't want to turn this into a political argument but politicans of all sides say one thing at one place and something tottaly different somewhere else all the time. The things Clinton did I liked and only the things he didn't do that Obama is now doing are the things I didn't like about him. *shrug*.

To bad Gatchaman was bad the idea certainly sounds interesting. The old one just seems incredibly awful though I mean really...

@zaldar: Im just for referance explaning why i used that. Personaly Impeached President B.J.Clinton is to me a rogue. An america loves its rogues.I see his policies no difrent than Obamas .Especialy since he campaigns for them as well.If ya wish to talk politics with me in pms more than happy to.Tho i always reject the notion every one does it to.There is merit in what your saying.

Just watched Gatchaman Crowds an actualy it may be ment for a larger political discussion.Tho the ending i thought was poorly exicuted ( worse than my spelling ),badly ploted, full of plot holes ,They may have ment for a larger message of every one is a hero.It could be they were pusing a freedom has its costs to.I can say it had style in animation an design shame that was not put into the story .Tho some are defending it now as "more complex an nuanced" .I woudl have to say story is shallow an lacking at the very least for me.

Can say the music intro was good.

@Marshal Victory: Well I would say second term Clinton is very different than Obama but neither here or there really.

On topic have you watched C-Control? Another one of those nuanced, complicated shows that Tom didn't like....(how would it compare to this one, if as good then I should watch this)...

@zaldar: Yeah i liked C control .Its on my better than average list.Think Tom liked it well enuff.Hes quoted on the dvd box if i recall. It only fails at giving us posibilities it hinted at really. But then again thinking to forward on entertinments posiblities will almost alwasy result in disapointment.

Generaly, politicaly especialy the argument of " to nuanced an complicated ".Is used as a slam to those who dont agree .Civilized way of saying your to stupid an dense to get how good this is.Which i think is tad silly.Belive same person who said this says Dog & Scissors causes people to comit animal abuse.Special Measures Unit: Stella Girls' Academy High School's C3 Club i think they said its to "pro gun" an can cause gun viloience.Difrent site .No one here that i know of would go that um silly.

Opion varies.Try very hard when i say something failed that it failed for me an my tastes.Tho have watched many a anime series an some times rewatched to cach things i missed.Gatchaman Crowds just has more style than story. An what story it has sufferes from rush an plot holes. It may have ment for a long term political point.Im not sure the story became so dull that blunts any larger meaning for me.

Seriously when at 11 of 12 episodes your doing half the episode as a recap somethings wrong. An to me 12 does not set up a second season .Hell 12 leaves out so much an jumps around i have to wonder why that recap happened instead of keeping some flow to the story.

Post by zaldar (1,278 posts) See mini bio Level 15

@Marshal Victory: Well if you liked C and this is bad then I won't waste my time. That tom is quoted on the box for C is rather hilarious as I don't think he did really like it all that much. Tom, you should see if you are quoted on the box..might be fun to talk about. To bad about Gat but ah well not everything is good...

@zaldar: Yeah it was just the end that didnt pay off. the ride their was fine enuff i think was his argument .Last vid thoughts on it was not found but http://www.funimation.com/shows/c-control site has the quote "this show’s got its finger on the pulse of a topic we probably won’t see “mainstream” entertainment explore for a long while. Tom Pinchuk, Anime Vice " but i belive the box has a difrent quote.

Jappan had what they call a lost decade. an it involed printing money threw a ressesion. The parallel tween that an whats gon eon for far to long here in the states is sadly very evident. To me C-Control) had great animation an high concept that almost pulled it off .I do like it probly will own it at some point.Hmm funimaiton has it cheeper than other sites by 20 bucks .Maybe next month :)

I'm up to episode two. This show is pretty silly and funny to me. Different strokes I guess. I never was into those power rangers/sentai, Godzilla, Kamen Rider, etc so maybe that helps. I have no basis for anything to go on except what's on the screen. LOL @ Eden of the East. What a mediocre series. This show is a lot more entertaining than that one to me.

Oh, and the music is pretty cool.

Gatchaman crowds makes my top ten worst anime of 2013

@katmic: I'm not going to argue this is like the best anime ever made, but I don't get the intense hate coming to it in this thread. I can't tell if you guys are being jokingly hyperbolic or if you really think it's terrible.

@sickVisionz:I wouldn't say i hated it; it merely had too much wasted potential. Truth be told i was expecting it to be a more serious version of samurai flamenco. However the characters in crowds were simply difficult to like.

@katmic: I like how one of the worst series of 2013 is now "I wouldn't say I hated it".

This is aimed at everyone, but I'm curious as to what you all were expecting? I didn't see any of the trailers and promo materials so maybe they painted a radically different portrait of what the series was going to be, but just having gone from one episode to the next, this is one of the more tonally consistent series out there. There's no hard swings in the story/tone or crazy plot twists that throw everything prior to it for a loop. I have a hard time understanding how you could go from one episode to the next, taking in everything in total and have expected a series so different than what was coming.
