Future Diary Announcement This Month-- Will It Get An Anime?

Moon Phase reports that according to a fax sent to bookstores-- not the first time they've stumbled upon one, probably a leak from the writer's local shop? --the tenth volume of Mirai Nikki, aka Future Diary, which goes on sale on March 26th, will feature a band around it with a "serious announcement."

Now, the obvious place my mind goes is an anime adaptation, but it could also be a live-action drama, a movie, or even something less exciting about drama CDs or the like. It could even be an announcement about when the manga's ending, or a spinoff, or a change of publication or something. I'm hoping, of course, for the anime!

Future Diary, published in the US by TOKYOPOP (the 5th volume was just released earlier this month), revolves around a guy who gets stuck playing a survival game, in which he and the other "players" must use their diaries to eliminate one another. Their diaries-- kept on their cell phones --have entries from the future, written as though by the diary's owners, and therefore have shortcomings in their details or perceptions.

What do you think? Do you want there to be an anime, or are you content with the manga just going on as it is? If it WERE made into an anime, is there a particular director, voice actor, or studio you'd want involved?

OMG this is great news. I'm sure which studio should do this but most likely Studio DEEN since they did a good job with the Higurashi no Naku Koro ni series.

I hope they do make an anime. I shall  keep my fingers crossed.   I could see them doing it too, since the manga  looks like it is just about to finish up.

@metalsnakezero: Deen does a LOT of stuff, so that's a safe bet. On the other hand, I almost always like Gainax's adaptations (as well as their original stuff), so I'd be curious to see them take it on. I could also see Madhouse do it, but they're pretty busy these days it seems to me.

I would enjoy seeing an anime. I wonder how they're going to do the beginning, something tells me that it would be something special.

I really dug what I've read, and would gladly tag along the bandwagon for the anime version.

I dunno, what about the beginning makes you think they'll have to change anything up. Its just my opinion, but I think the introduction would surely suffice for an anime's pacing. Start as planned, and cut off with the appearance of the 3rd = solid 1st episode.

I liked what I read, I didn't really keep up with it, but it seemed like a decent premise.

Some really really creepy characters though...

Hmm this sounds like Death Note but less predictable, I think I'll pick up the first volume or two next time I'm at Chapters/Indigo. (I wish we had more bookstore chains in Canada)

I'm sorry to say this but never heard of it. I looked at the plot looks kinda familiar ^^^ but still rather sounds interesting. I say Yes please make an Anime. For the director role? hehe how about  Tetsuro Araki (you know...death note) or Goro Taniguchi for a safe bet.

Its pretty enjoyable. I mean, when the writer first started, I don't believe twitter was as visible today. Its kind of like, "What if your twitter started updating itself, with what happens to you in the next couple hours."

Oh yeah, and its in the kill or be killed situation. Its enjoyable to jaunt through the characters, since each has their own style, based on their personality, like the super yandere, who has diary that only writers about the main character, since she stalks him obsessively.

@John_Martone:

I meant as how the manga began with a flash-forward I think the anime will do something different.
