This Manga is also popularly known as Mirai Niki which revolves around a game created by The God of Time and Space to Chose his next successor by giving 12 people a future diary specific to everyone.

Overview

This manga is about a game. More specifically, a game to determine the fate of the Universe. God, a being named Deus Ex Machina (God in the Machine), to be specific, needs to find an heir. So, he has chosen twelve people. These people have been bestowed with diaries, in various forms, that tell them the future in various different ways. Of themselves, of others, near or far. The goal of the game? To find the others, and destroy either their diaries, until only one is left. Then, they will become the new God.

Yukiteru was a normal kid, albeit without many friends, until the day he became a Diary Holder. Now he, along with Yuno Gasai, a girl who is obsessed with Yukiteru and also has a diary, must find a way to survive this deadly game.

The manga was written by Sakae Esuno, and premiered in Shonen Ace on January 26, 2006.

Alterations

The title was changed for the English release from Mirai Nikki to Future Diary.

Characters

Yukiteru Amano

The First Diary Holder. He is in possession of the "Random" Diary, which chronicles his various surroundings every couple of minutes. Yukiteru is fairly apathetic to his surroundings. He doesn't have many friends, instead preferring to write on his cellphone or talking to Deus, who he knew of before the events of the manga took place. Yukiteru is also skilled with darts, which is how he manages to defeat his various opponents.

Yuno Gasai

The Second Diary Holder. She is in possession of the "Yukiteru" Diary, which records notes about Yukiteru's whereabouts and actions every ten minutes. Yuno is fairly, unhealthily obsessed with Yukiteru, to the point of killing people for his sake. Yuno is, by and large, a textbook yandere for Yukiteru, with her unhealthy obsession and willingness to kill for him.
