The fusion dance is a technique introduced by Goku during the Majin Buu Saga
The Fusion Dance is a technique that is introduced by Goku during the Buu Saga. Even though Goku in the original series never comes to fuse with anyone, his son Goten fuses with Trunks in order to create Gotenks. The purpose of the Fusion Dance is to temporarily merge two bodies into a single, superior entity.
To correctly perform the Fusion Dance, the fusees must create a perfectly symmetrical image of one another. The Fusion Dance is a short series of poses that are performed by two characters of equal power levels, roughly equal size and same race. In the series, the result of a correctly performed Fusion Dance is a superior being whose power is multiplied several fold over that of the individual fusees. If one character performs the dance wrong, then it will result in an obese character who is much weaker than either fusee individually. If the timing of the poses is off, it results in a sickly looking fusion who is also much weaker than each fusee individually. Regardless, the fused character possess mixed physical traits of their original counterparts. If they synchronize their dance correctly, it results with a very powerful being.
Only one character in the original series has been seen as a result of the Fusion Dance; his name was Gotenks, being a fusion of the characters Goten and Trunks. Even though there was only one in the original series, one other fused character appeared in a Movie and in Dragon Ball GT. In Dragon Ball Z Movie 12, Gogeta is born from Goku and Vegeta, however he was first given the name Veku upon being incorrectly fused. The second time, he was correctly made and given the name Gogeta. Gogeta appears as a Super Saiyan 4 in Dragon Ball GT, and the very most powerful character in the Dragon Ball universe. The total fusion time lasts about 30 minutes, depending on the amount of ki that is used. After that, it takes the character's bodies another hour before they are able to fuse again.
The dance itself is explained by Goku in Dragon Ball Z Movie 12 as combining elements of both traditional fighting poses and water ballet. The performers must visualize two rivers flowing towards each other that get closer as they approach each other, then converge at two single points; the points collapse under the pressure and the two rivers flow into each other, becoming one. The movements right down to the fusees' breathing must be perfectly synchronized and symmetrical, or the fusion will fail. The fusees must also equalize their power levels.
Gotenks is the fusion of Goten and Trunks. Goku taught them the fusion dance to fight Majin Buu. After his time finishes on Earth, he left the teachings to Piccolo. After two unsuccessful fusion, they succeeded to fuse correctly and became Gotenks. At first he was called with Gotrunks by Piccolo but the fused character claimed himself with name Gotenks. First fusion was in base form. Later they fused as a Super Saiyan. In the Hyperbolic time chamber Goten and Trunks demonstrated new techniques to become Super Saiyan 3 in fused state. He also appeared in Dragon Ball Z movie : Fusion Reborn and Wrath Of The Dragon.
Gogeta is the fusion of Goku and Vegeta. Gogeta never appeared in the series. He only appeared in the movie Fusion Reborn. When an evil demon named Janemba terrorized entire Hell, Heaven, The other world and Living world, Goku and Vegeta demonstrated the fusion for the last ditch of effort to save the Universe. Gogeta was only Super Saiyan on the movie.
In Dragon Ball GT, Gogeta born as a Super Saiyan 4. When Omega Shenron was too much for Goku and Vegeta, they committed the fusion dance at Super Saiyan 4 state. The fusion of two Super Saiyan 4 resulted a very powerful being named Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta.
It is the wrong version of Gotenks. This form born when the fusion dance demonstrate in wrong way. It is also the first fused form in Dragon Ball Z series, when Goten and Trunks were first officially demonstrated fusion. Because of a wrong pose of Trunks this form created accidentally. This from resemblances similar physical shape as Fat Majin Buu but lacks strong power.
This form is also a wrong version of Gotenks for finger coordination mistakes of Goten and Trunks. This form is the opposite of Fat Gotenks. For his very skinny physical shape, he looked like almost Master Roshi. For the fusion rules this form must stay 30 minutes in order to diffuse. Like the Fat Gotenks this form also lacks physical strength and Ki attacks.
It is the wrong fusion form of Gogeta. This form has a strong resemblance of Fat Gotenks. Veku appeared in the movie Fusion Reborn to fight Janemba but unfortunately ended up with Veku for the mistake of Vegeta. The name is given by South kai. Due to his massively fat body, this form is mostly unable to fight and lack of energy attacks based on Ki. The punches and physical strength of this form is also very low but has unusual magical powers.
