Romeo x Juliet is Finally Cast

I was originally going to type "cast-erated" in the title, because I often add "-erated" to verbs, but then I realized what that sounds like and decided not to.

Anyway, FUNimation has finally announced the dub cast list for Romeo x Juliet, Gonzo's fantasy take on the classic Shakespeare tale of tragic teen love. There are plenty of familiar faces, like Chris Burnett (One Piece's White Beret) as Romeo and Brina Palencia (Darker than Black's Yin) as Juliet. Here's the full list:

  • Line Producer: Christopher Bevins
  • ADR Directors: J. Michael Tatum and R Bruce Elliott (in his FUNI directing debut)
  • Script Adaptations: Taliesin Jaffe (and team)
  • Romeo: Chris Burnett
  • Juliet: Brina Palencia
  • Antonio: Maxey Whitehead (a newcomer you'll be hearing great things from)
  • Cordelia: Colleen Clinkenbeard
  • Benvolio: Sean Michael Teague
  • Conrad: R Bruce Elliott
  • Francisco: Eric Vale
  • Curio: Robert McCollum
  • Mercutio: Christopher Bevins
  • Amelia: Larissa Wolcott
  • William: J. Michael Tatum
  • Hermione: Carrie Savage
  • Tybalt: Mike McFarland
  • Lord Montague: Sean Hennigan

What do you think? Win, fail, or draw?

I've only seen a few episodes of the subbed version. And I liked what I've seen!

But, good animes that have been kidnapped by Funimation tend to turn into an epic fail.

It's a pretty unique take on Romeo and Juliet, and I have to say that the show ceases to even resemble the original story towards the end...but I also have to say that I'm THRILLED to see a newcomer in a relatively significant role! I'm all for getting some new blood into our anime.

I don't know dub voice actors let alone seiyuu from Japan but I'm just excited for Romeo x Juliet to be here in general so yay regardless for me...? :D I'll give the dub a shot though.

This is win for me! Been having problems finding the subbed version online, and I've wanted to see it for a while. Yay for FUNimation making this anime more accessible to me!

If the voice actors do a good job I might just check this one out.

Could've gone with "cast-igated". Too harsh, perhaps?

Btw, the soundtrack to this series is pretty swanky; supremely-awesome-game-composer Hitoshi Sakimoto for the win.
