While I hate to admit there's ever a good reason to browse other sites, free anime is pretty much the best excuse possible.

Getting straight down to business...

FUNimation.com

Picks
X: The Series
--- You could do much worse checking out the first few episodes of the X series. While I've only seen the movie, X is one of those gushy, complex Clamp series that I've heard makes people squirm.
Shin chan
---  Come on, its shin-chan! Besides, why watch Sgt. Frog when you can get your fill of adorable animals with our coverage of Chi.
Guyver: The Bio-Boosed Armor
---  No good reason, I just haven't watched anything related to Guyver in a decade. Literally, a decade.

On Youtube.com/FUNimation

Picks
A little bit of a retread, but...
X: The Series
Casshern Sins
--- A pretty work and mostly episodic, Casshern takes us to a future where humans are all but dead, and robots aren't far behind them.
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
--- While 38 should be the only episode up at the moment, we've gotten into some really good ground in the plot.

On Hulu

Big Windup 5-7 (dub)
FMA: Brotherhood 38 (sub)

Picks
Big Windup
--- I still love this shonen baseball series

Anddddd now I think my linking finger is broken. Go have fun, watch your anime. Don't worry about me at all *goes to find some ice*

I'm watching My Bride is a Mermaid at the moment.  God, that show is freaking over the top crazy in an awesome way.  You can easily tell that show was made in Japan.   :P

Pani Poni Dash is a great series.

I've actually been working on the information on Seto no Hanayome (My Bride is a Mermaid). I have profiles made for pretty much all the characters. Only missing one or two minor roles.

Can't wait to check those pages out.   :)

@JJOR64:
Well, on most of those profiles I only have the most basic information. I am currently filling out the episode information on the anime. After the anime is better filled out I will write more in the profiles.
I just made sure overviews were filled out. As well as that there was a picture and the Japanese name was filled in. I hate it when people make a profile but never add a picture.

I agree with you on that one.  On some of my reviews when I tried to link character pages, there was no info and no picture what so ever.  What's the point in linking the characters if there is no info what so ever on that character.  It's kinda depressing.

I've been tempted to pick up X, but I really want to finish Tokyo Babylon first, as the plot of Tokyo Babylon continues straight into X.

EDIT: Deleted erronious content, which I corrected myself on through the use of Wikipedia.

EDIT^2: Also, as far as dubs go, the dub for Pani Poni Dash is still pretty (intentionally) funny.

Ooo now I can watch X the series. I know it was showing on Sci-Fi at one time, but it was always in the middle.  I've seen the movie, but it's been like 5 years since then. I tried watching it again recently and was like "WTF?! Maybe, I should try watching the series first."

I just get a 'connection closed' error with all the episodes.

I checked Funimation's support forums, and it's been reported there heavily, so I suspect Funimation is aware of the problem. I think they're doing updates at the moment as well, which isn't helping things.

That's good.  I was just about to watch some My Bride is a Mermaid, but got that damn error.  I guess I'll watch it somewhere else then.

@Count_Zero: @Slim: Good job guys, I think we broke it.

This is why we can't have pretty things.

@FoxxFireArt:
Yesterday I hit that wall since I was updated " Pluto" on the pluto franchise. His identity is not expressly revealed by the 4th volume, but he's a central concept to the manga. Plus, its just hard in general to get photos of most of the manga characters here.

I ended up just adding this photo for pluto.

Yeah, occasionally there is good reason why you can't put up a photo of a character, but if you go through a lot of the profiles on here. There is no good excuse when you consider how easy it is to just do a Google search and get a picture of a character. That doesn't explain why people don't fill out the overview when they make a profile.

When I make a profile, I do my best to add a picture, fill out the over view at least, and fill in the Japanese name.

@FoxxFireArt: I always add pictures for new series and things, but I often don't for people-- especially Japanese people, because a lot of people in Japan who aren't idols (anime staff and mangaka and the like) don't like to have their photos spread around and/or don't have any available at all. That's why so many mangaka have little manga representations of themselves.

@gia:
I have the same problem when I'm searching for pictures of Voice Actors. It's often too hard to confirm if it's the actor or someone with a similar name. There is also the issue of finding a picture and it being too small.
There is also something nice about not having your face known. For one thing, you could be a top selling writer and artist, but you could also go to a convention and not have hundreds of people asking for autographs. My favorite comic artist is Fred Perry, but I didn't even know what he looked like until a few years ago. It didn't really matter to me.

There is still little to no excuse not to add a picture to character profiles eventually if you are the one making the profile. If you were to go through the list of the series Ive worked on submitting for Anime Vice. Maria Holic, Kemeko Deluxe, Seto no Hanayome, Nagasarete Airantou, Girls Bravo, One Piece; to name a few. At the very least I add a picture and basic information. It's irritating to be trying to research something, find the profile, but it have nothing in it.
