Hawkeye's at... 10% health, maybe?
Hawkeye's at... 10% health, maybe?

Wrath is a tenacious one, ain’t he? Out of all the super moves he’s pulled during this brawl at the top of the castle, I’d say chucking a knife at enemy while still hanging for his life is probably the most stylin’. He just finds and exploits every possible opportunity to inflict some hurt. Of course, he’s finally feeling some hurt of his own, and the question following that is… how much more can he endure? He’s been blown up, gouged, impaled and, now, he’s possibly drowning. I don’t think he had any chance for a soul pit stop on the way from that mid-air bullet time platforming in the blown-up train wreckage to central, so I’ll take a stab and guess he’s at maybe 20-30% health, right now.

You lunatics figure that’s a good estimate?

Buccaneer’s, of course, at 0% and am I regretting a little the death wish I had for him earlier. It’s unusual for a character to depart in such a drawn-out fashion in a fantasy adventure like this - - unusually realistic, I suppose. His voice was getting so raspy, you could almost hear the sinews of his insides growing more frayed by the moment. Farewell, Cap’n.

Who was planned to be the fifth sacrifice originally? Gold tooth choosing Mustang seems like a spur-of-the-moment thing (even if he did sense exactly which button to push to get the Colonel to do what he wanted.) Despite Hawkeye being firmly established as his most-loved one, I suspect their relationship’s never going to be fulfilled due to all those social forms Foxxfireart's pointed out. It’s a bit of a pity, really, and I can see why fans are so upset about it.

Speaking of Foxxfireart, I should take this opportunity to recognize the man for filling out the pages for this show as they’d been sorely lacking for a long time. You try finding new images over 58 installment of review like I do and, pretty quickly, you do start noticing the gaps. So much appreciated!

Watch this episode “Sacrifices,” below and decide for yourself, then read my comments on the previous episode here.

I guess everybody is busy this weekend.

There's really not much to say.  Shit has started to hit the fan.  Soon we're going to see whether all the planning that Hohenheim, Ed, Al, Scar and everyone else did will be enough.

And yes, FoxxFireArt has a done great job filling out the FMA wiki.

Yeah, I think there might be a game going on or something.

Hohenheim and Mustang have definitely done plenty of planning, but I'm not sure about everybody else. They seem like they're flying from the seat of their pants.

Oh yeah, Super Bowl.  I keep forgetting.

Scar spent the timeskip with Marcoh, going over Scar's Bro's alchemy/alkahestry notes, and they recruited some other Ishvalans for whatever their plan is.  It is kind of strange, but Scar's brother, who does not have a name, and dies in a flashback, might actually be the most intelligent alchemist in the entire series, outside of Hohenheim.  He noticed something was wrong with the country's alchemy before almost anyone else, and they found those two Transmutation Circle diagrams in his notes.

In actuality, Roy was a candidate for the sacrifice for a very long time. Originally, they were going to use Tim Marcoh. They needed alchemists who for one knew something about human transmutation and were compassionate enough to do such a thing. Tim Marcoh escaped with Scar and they were never able to reacquire him. Roy became a candidate way back after he killed Lust. It was the reason Bradley didn't go in and kill everyone. Remember when Envy was angry that Bradley didn't kill Roy? Bradley explained it was because he realized it was due to Roy's compassion that they could use him.

I wouldn't say that the series romances fail to really be fulfilled. I just don't think they get a strong as a close as they really deserve, and I do blame it on the social limitation put upon it by the Japanese culture. They don't seem too fond of PDA(public displays of affection). Romantic fulfillment is not something manga/anime is famous for. I will add that this series ends things 100% better than the first FMA anime series did.
It just feels more noticeable for Fullmetal Alchemist, because the series has such a European feel to the culture. In fact, there are no characters in this series with Japanese names. They're all either Western or Chinese names.

A nitpicky thing I noticed about this series. The anime director Yasuhiro Irie obviously knows nothing about machine guns. With the way those turret guns were being fired nonstop.

Thanks for the shout out. Glad to see the work I did on the show is appreciated. Every episode now has complete cast listings of even minor characters. I was absolutely aghast when I first went through these pages and saw them so poorly filled out or with no information at all. Weird considering how popular the series has been. Some characters didn't even have profiles on the site and voice credits weren't filled. I wish I could add more pictures for the episodes, but I don't have the DVDs and I wont use pirated versions. I don't like using screen shots with subtitles in them.

Ha glad to see foxxfire that you are liking the show.  Told you it had a significantly more fulfilling ending ;).  As for the stuff not being filled out I'm not surprised honestly.  Lot of work (as you found) little reward.  I'm surprised as many of them are filled out as they are really...but then I've never been a fan of the wiki structure much myself.

Man, that had to be the most subtle timeskip ever. And yet so much happened during the interim.

Ah right... I should've been taking notes. Man,  this series is so long!

If only they would be as fulfilled as thoroughly as the romance in TEAM AMERICA was...

Considering how you have MP5 equivalents being used alongside K98 equivalents, I'd say there's not a lot gun understanding in total here.

I agree, but are you talking about the standard or UnCut version?

Though, you can get nearly any kind of ending such as that with hentai doujinshi.
