 Um... yeah.
 Um... yeah.

Oh geez… Armstrong and Sig totally have a serious man-crush for eachother.

Out of all the intercut battles that’ve been rolling along lately, I’d say I like the takedown of Sloth the most. It’s the one that feels like an authentic hatchet job. Mustang will show up and take Envy out with style and finesse (only for everybody to bog him down in debates how he should be feeling.) Alex and Olivier, though, they had to get their hands dirty and every inch they take from Sloth had to be won through blood, sweat and determination.

Considering how indomitable and unrelenting Olivier’s been up until this point, it says something that one of the most effective scenes here was her having to take a breather.

Father and Hohenheim’s duel of the wizards was a spectacular show piece. I continue to be impressed with the animation in this show. It puts a lot of features to shame! And I did pat myself on the back for cluing in to what they Van spells out explicitly here - - that Father turning his vices into beings also expunged all the emotions that the frivolous, sadistic homunculus had in his early days. I’m starting to wonder if there’s some psycho-philosophical metaphor to be found in how these dopplegangers (effectively two halves of one being) are sicing their respective children ob eachother.

And speaking of children, here comes the nastiest one of all… the appropriately-angry Wrath! What timing. I honestly think this show’s been dealing the surprise, dramatic reveal card a little too often (Sig and Izumi’s entrance was pushing it a bit,) but this is another cliffhanger that’s got me really wanting to watch the next episode immediately. With most of the heroes weakened, this is definitely the worst moment for such a dangerous baddy to re-appear.

Watch this episode “The Adults’ Way of Life,” below and decide for yourself, then read my comments on the previous episode here.

"Dangerous baddy" does not suffice as a description to Wrath. In fact, there are no words to describe his awesomeness.

Alex and Sig -should- have known each other, but the scene in the manga where they meet, which would have been way back when Ed & Al were first encountering Greed at Devil's Nest (eps 13/14), was cut.  Of course, they still reworked the scene here to be like their first meeting, so no real loss.  Sloth being defeated by the overwhelming power of courage and muscles is pretty funny, as is Izumi tossing Sloth like a toy.

And HOLY CRAP time for Wrath to show people why he is named as such.

One thing that sort of irritated me about this fight with Sloth is that we don't really get to see Olivier do much in it. She wiped the floor with her brother earlier.
I do like how she rejected the idea of taking the Fuhrer's seat. 'Why would anyone want a chair that makes you so easy to shoot at?'. lol

I still can't get over Bradley's full name. "King" Bradley. Don't get me wrong. I'm sure it's great to be the King. The VIZ version doesn't call him Fuhrer though. They say President. Which seems counter intuitive. Seeing how Mustang wants to remove him and make a different form of government. On pretty much any controversial issue, VIZ has no balls. I don't even want to imagine what they did to Black Lagoon. Archie Comics has more between their legs than VIZ.

It's funny, but in the first anime series(2003 non-canon), Alex and Sig had a similar moment of flexing then handshake, but it wasn't during a battle.

Wasn't the implication supposed to be that he put the kiddy gloves on with her?

Censorship debates aside, I still maintain that him being called fuhrer is probably the stupidest choice in the show. Especially since the creators insist that Ishvalan massacre is NOT supposed to be a Holocaust allegory. Title him anything else and you can still all the political intrigue. But that usage is just careless about the historical connotations.

@rubberluffy: Their first encounter here feels like the kind of rapid fire, mutual-admiration posedowns you'd see at Golds Gym.

@Tom_Pinchuk:
I'm pretty sure she was going easy on Alex. They build her up to be such a bad ass. It would be nice to see why on someone she doesn't have to hold back on.

I understand the issue of calling Bradley Fuhrer, but the title is closer to the original intent of the author. The honorific that they are using in Japanese for Bradley isn't the one that means president. It's the one that is closer to mean "your excellency".

I even found two pages in a volume of Fullmetal Alchemist that call Bradley "Fuhrer-President". It's as if they didn't know what they were doing. It makes me wonder if VIZ even has editors.

There really is no wat to hear him be called Futher, and not instantly connect him with being a bad guy.  There was really no reason to go with it, so I have no issues calling him King.

Bar one massive odd plot point , the whole finale of the series is very well done.  Every episode had something unmissable and easily enough to keep you on the edge of your seat.
