My FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST is starting to feel like an extended bout of BLOODY ROAR! The human-to-beastman ratio is getting more like and more like ZOOBILEE ZOO’s.
OK, no more scattershot pop culture references...
I shouldn’t really be surprised about the aforementioned ratio since the latest intro really lets the proverbially were-cat out of the bag. The Elrics' posse is, indeed, gaining a lot of muscle with these Chimera fellas. We’re seeing now that none of them are really that bad. Yet, while I can better see why Al’s plea worked last episode, it’s still a lot easier to buy these guys switching sides after a double-cross than it is to buy the other ones having a change of heart after their loosely-defined “loved ones” were invoked.
Then again, it does fits for the Alchemical Kids to be reluctant to kill and eager to sympathize with these monsters. There was that whole dramatic episode towards the beginning where they saw that little girl get turned into a dog by her mother and then murdered by mean ol' Mr. Scar. All the guns that fired off in those first ten episodes, they're are all hitting the targets now, aren't they?
It is kind of amusing that the Alchemical Kids are having qualms about killing now, too. What are they? Cousins of Vash? The gold hair should've been a tip-off.I didn’t really get why people were listing Kimblee as one of their favorite characters back when he was first stepped out of the cooler, but I’m definitely starting to like the guy's style now. There’s something beguiling about this loathsome villain being such a calm and collected dandy. Casually commenting about how he knew Ed would flip as soon asWinry was off the table... nonchalantly pointing out the snipers... sipping coffee in the cold when everybody’s flipping out... he calls to mind a more fashionable version of Scorpius from FARSCAPE.
Despite all of that, though...what the hell? He’s got TWO philospher’s stones? That’s overkill akin to having two Cosmic Cubes or something. How could he have ever lost to Scar then?
