The X must've been painful, but it looks so stylin'!

I always make a point to comment whenever I pass the halfway mark for a show and it’s kind of... sobering to realize that this show’s already longer than most of the series I’ve watched so far and I’m only at the middle of it.  Man… I remember when it felt like a big leap going from six episodes of FLCL to 26 episodes of EVANGELION. This show definitely has been living up to the hype, and it’s remarkably been getting better and better as it’s gone along - - so none of you lunatics were whistling Dixie.

Now, back to the story…

Ed’s automail’s failing?! I was going to chalk up his alchemical mojo being ought of wack in the homunculi’s lair to some kind of mystical interference, but this is leading me to believe the kid’s got bad stamina. Or maybe he’s just lazy about keeping up with his exercises. Who knows? On second thought, many of you probably do. Maybe there’s some kind of dampening field around Briggs?

If French is supposed to be the language of love, then Japanese is the language of intense rage. It’s almost more entertaining to listen to Ed shouting and hissing then it is to hear him talk. Scar, as I mentioned, has that Akuma-level of guttural. I had trouble taking the guy seriously in his introduction - - he was a bit too metro to be such a deranged zealot - - but he’s quickly become my favorite character.   He’s in that special “outsider” position where he technically doesn’t have to ever lose to keep tension going -  - and I got the biggest thrill out of him impaling Kimblee mid-internal-monolog. Served him right.

   This!
 This!

They harp again on how he disfigured Dr. Marcoh and I can’t believe I didn’t comment on how harsh that scene was from a couple episodes  ago. We need to keep this guy inconspicuous? What’s the meanest, nastiest way to do it? Zap! They finally identify the papery effect that accompanies any act of alchemy like that and I think it’s been so cool to watch. It’s more of an illustrative flourish than what you usually get in animation.

By the way, I’ve got to say it… do you figure General Armstrong’s going to warm to these kids? Hyuk hyuk!

Remember back in episode 29 the problem with Ed and Al's alchemy in the lair was brought up when 2 soldiers mentioned a bunch of alchemists hired for repairs couldn't use alchemy either at the same time.  So, I don't think stamina is the culprit here...

Also, Olivier (people have a problem with always calling her Olivia) is a badass.  She's such a complete opposite of her brother it's funny.  Also, those lips.

General Armstrong warming up? HA!

Scar's one of my favorite characters too, probably third, behind Mustang and Kimblee.

I don't know if secret is the right word, but remember in episode 28, Father slammed his foot down and after that alchemy didn't work for Ed and Al, and Father was surprised when May and Scar's alkahestry worked.  And before Ed went over to Riza's talk at the end of 29,  two soldiers asked him for help with repairs because the guys they hired earlier in the day couldn't do anything, and Ed thinks to himself about how the times seemed to match up.

I don't remember if this was true but i'm pretty sure the automail was failing because of the cold weather O.o..

Ah right... I was forgetting about the differences between alchemy and alchestry.

I think that because of the weather condition in the area
But there is an automail expert in Briggs.
Besides, General Armstrong is there to help them.

Below isn't really a spoiler, but I couldn't remember if they address the automail failure in this episode or the next one.
