Okay, guys-- FUNimation's stream of the first episode of Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood is going online in less than 10 minutes. We've been waiting for this remake of Hiromu Arakawa's manga for a long time now, and it's finally here!

So let's have a little online watching party. Those of you who are logging on can visit FUNimation's video site and theoretically the first episode will be online at 10:00am Central time. Keep the comment/forum thread for this post up in the background somewhere and share your thoughts as the episode continues!

Oh, and yes, there will potentially be SPOILERS in this thread, although just of the first episode, which will be stuff most of us are familiar with, I think.

If you're not sure where to start, here's a question: do you guys think the new cast will be Win or Fail?

Ooh, it's already up! http://www4.funimation.com/video/?page=video&v=1832

I'm curious about the cast but don't really have an opinion just yet.

Wow, the Ed in the OP looks really weird o_O the one with his hair all flying around?

What do you guys think of the OP song?

All right! Sounds like a plan! I'm definitely going to watch it on Funimations site (despite the fact I've already seen the episode already)

Glad to have you on board! I'm trying to remember if this Freezing Alchemist appears in the manga or not-- I don't THINK so, though I left off after about chapter 80. Still, I definitely don't remember him...he was probably created to build this episode's introduction.

Heehee, nice to see all the classic "chibi" jokes though :)

Hmm...nope, Isaac is an anime original character only. In fact, after I was done watching the episode I skimmed through some of the manga myself seeing if he was in there and nope! This episode, I believe takes place before Ed and Al go to Lior.

Edit: I actually kinda like the opening, Yui is back to her rock style like when she sang rolling star for Bleach.

Huuuuughes!

Schwindelmagier: yeah, since they're talking about how they were going to go to Lior but it got cancelled because they had to catch this guy.

What's FMA without some of it's best characters eh? Like Hughes!

I've missed them so much! Heehee, Kimbly.

Holy smokes. Funi's stream works here in Ireland. I can't believe it.
  Thank you Funi. Thank you.

Perhaps it's a factor of laziness rather than open-ness and sharing, but this is cool, considering how much content like this is blocked (for example the Australian stream of FMA doesn't).

:D Interested to see myself and hear what everyone thinks of Roy's new VA, heard lots of complaints.

@Zeouterlimits: You're right, I''ve heard the same thing. But you know what? I have never had the luxury of hearing Mustangs seiyuu before. When I first got into this series, I watched it in the English dub.

@Zeo: Awesome!

Remember that it's not necessarily that Madman in Australia is being mean and FUNi is being nice, of course; Madman probably just only negotiated rights for Australia. I would hazard a guess that FUNi negotiated for English-language rights worldwide, excluding countries that have their own companies who do English-language releases...some of southeast Asia (which is already getting this via Animax, IIRC) and Australia.

That's just a guess, mind you!

Hahaha! Yeah, I remembered the part when Armstrong came in there, such a silly guy.

As for Roy's seiyuu...I like the original better so far. He was more charming; this Roy is a little generic-sounding. Not BAD, mind, just not as awesome. Some of that is probably just my being used to the original Roy, and we also haven't seen him in really "charming" mode, but the original Roy oozed his charisma pretty much all the time.

Awww, poor Armstrong!

@Gia: Did you see that? That one small cameo of "father"? ^-^

What do you guys think of the overall animation style? It's very smooth, but it also feels just a touch more simplified in some parts than than the original-- which is neither better nor worse, just different. Possibly a little bit more like the manga, too.

Schwindelmagier: YES! I thought I saw him so I went back and rewound a bit XD
