@gia Agreed, the pacing is definately much faster than it seemed like before, but then again, I haven't read the manga (HERESY, I know), so I'm not exactly sure how different it is from the original series. Is there an episode number that they're going for in the end of all of this? Sooner than the original series?
Well, I think the original series got to take the first stuff slower, and they're rushing through it to try and make sure that fans who watched the first series don't get bored-- but that new fans are still getting the material they need to know.
And no, I haven't heard of any expected length for the series yet.
Anywho I shall still share my thoughts on this episode. I very much liked that somewhat creepy start with Ed and Al's mother as well as Nina/Alexander. Then we see the scene where Envy comes in, I rather liked Envys look this time around not sure about anyone else, it might just be me. Aaaannddd onto what the episode focused on the most: the fight between Ed and Scar (and Al too!) then Roy and co. show up of course in the rain Mustang can't use his flames and so on... so Hawkeye and Armstrong are left to end up injuring Scar (well that was Hawkeyes handywork but Armstrong helped too). It's going just as I had hoped so far, I'm happy that we'll see Winry in the next episode so that should be fun. I believe the storyline is similar to the previous anime up until...the ending of volume 7/beginning of volume 8 but I could be wrong so feel free to correct me. All in all this episode has been my favorite so far.
Here's my thoughts on the episode and series as a whole. I'm tired of the short jokes. I also wish I could see more of a change in plot, which I'm not seeing really from the previous anime version but I guess that's to be expected. It's quite entertaining to watch and one thing that stood out to me was that I think I preferred how they handled Mustang's inability to use fire in the original anime better. @_@
