Chapter 19 Yuki, Kyo, and Tohru are back in school as second-year students while Haru and Momiji come in for their first year. Momiji and Haru's appearances in school get the attention of the student council president until "Black" Haru tells him otherwise. Momiji then sends word to Kyo and Yuki that Akito plans to visit their high school.
Chapter 20 Tohru encounters Akito outside of the school. While he seems friendly towards Tohru, Yuki's reaction to his presence makes Tohru know otherwise. To help Yuki get over the stress of encountering Akito, Tohru invites him, her friends, and the other Sohma boys to a game of badminton.
Chapter 21 While helping Yuki with gardening, Tohru feels something slither into her clothes. A snake pops out who turns out to be Ayame, Yuki's older brother. Ayame's vain attitude does well at pushing Yuki and Kyo's buttons. But when Ayame takes Tohru out for to eat, he tells her about the strain in his relationship with Yuki.
Chapter 22 With Ayame still at Shigure's house after spending the night, Yuki can't put up with it. When he sees Ayame and Shigure looking through a yearbook of their days in high school, Yuki has to listen to Ayame's take on stories from his high school days which involve how he was allowed to keep his long hair and dealt with a school scandal while he was student council president.
Chapter 23 With the anniversary of her mother's death nearing, Tohru managed to maintain a positive outlook on things in the eyes of Yuki, Kyo, and her other friends. But even Tohru can show sadness, as hearing about Momiji's problems with his family shows in this chapter.
Chapter 24 Yuki and Kyo accompany Tohru to visit Kyoko's grave on the one year anniversary since her death. Saki and Arisa meet with the three there where they pay their respects and we learn that Yuki and Kyo may know Tohru for more longer than she assumes.
