I only had to see the cover art for Hiroyuki Asada's Tegami Bachi (Letter Bee) once before I knew it'd do well. I heard the story line-- a tale set in a sci-fi/fantasy world where it's always night and the planet's only light comes from an artificial sun, and a young boy named Lag acts as letter-carrier, entrusted with peoples' hearts and dreams –and was pretty sure we'd see an anime version eventually, too.

And eventually we did, in the form of a 30-minute short created as part of a special event for Jump Sq., the manga anthology that serialized the manga. The anime probably functioned as a test to see how well the show would do overall, because a full TV anime is now reportedly in the works and due out this fall.

That said, I'm not totally thrilled with how the anime looks in comparison to the manga's style, so I'm going to throw a bunch of images from the manga here for your viewing pleasure (though I'm still excited for the anime version). Enjoy!

I absolutely LOVE this series. I recall hearing about it sometime last year and decided to start reading it. Both the artwork and storyline impressed me so much, I'm looking forward to watching the anime as well.

The manga art really good. I'll have to look for the book now.

Is it just me, or the art work remind me of "The World Ends With You"

Wow, that IS nice looking manga art. And yeah, the anime art isn't as nice...but it so rarely is, especially with such finely detailed work.
