After working on the Speed Racer pages, it's just reminded me how much I like the show. I'm not really sure what it is about it. There's no super crazy robots running around. There's no inappropriately hot characters (sorry Trixie). The stories were pretty simple. Heck, they mostly centered around a race.
All I can think is it's either the Mach 5. (Who wouldn't love to have a real one and be able to jump over other cars? Choo choo choo). Maybe it's Racer X. He was a bad ass. He could drive like a mofo, shot at bad guys, and had a cool costume. Or maybe it's just a big nostalgia thing since it's basically the first 'anime' I watched.
Don't mess with the X, even if his gun is funny looking.
