Overview

Welcome to the fifth weekly Sket Dance article! Today was a busy day, and my team and I managed to finished Beelzebub 36 and Sket Dance 27. For those of you who don't know my team, my teammates are Annabanana, KuroNekoXIII, Hibaru, HalberdierV2, and Piface314. Let's discuss this exciting, promiscuous, and hilarious episode.

Plot

In this episode, it has two parts: Sket Dan meets Misora who taking the place of a teacher's assistant, and for the second part, Sket Dan and Misora learn more about Switch's inventions. All does not go well when Misora feels that her clumsiness has made her into a failure while Switch's inventions are another level of failure.

Will Sket Dan help Misora with her clumsiness problem and How Switch's inventions fail?

Tune in and watch Sket Dance episode 27.

Updates

Sket Dance has a new opening and closing theme: "Graffiti" by Gackt and "Milk to Chocolate (ミルクとチョコレート)" by ChocoLe.

New Character
Misora Remi is a former TV idol who stars in a show called "Together With Mommy." Her dreams are to be a teacher for the real thing.

Verdict

Good and Bizarre

*I'm going to make it a bit different this time since I have 3 nice set of images.

  • Switch has a wide variety of inventions, and all of them have a strange flaw.

Left to Right:

  1. Unnamed Moe, robot, girl head - Switch had made as a gift to Otakura. It cools down ramen by blowing on it.
  2. Mandoseru - A pun that has Madrill (mandoriru) and backpack (randoseru) combined to create this bag.
  3. Scope-Ion - Designed to zoom in and track things.
  4. Hover Shoes - Designed to float above the ground.
  5. Cheer Up Bazooka - Designed for long distance cheering.
  • Even though Misaro is clumsy, she is still an idol. Take a look at her images. Sket Dance has veered off from innocence to adult.

Ramen Doll: Is it nice and cold?
Ramen Doll: Is it nice and cold?
  • The female robot head that blows ramen has a hilarious scene with Bossun. It's my favorite moment in this episode.

Bad

I couldn't find anything bad. There were a lot of ecchi moments but it's not that bad. For the opening and closing theme, they are pretty good. Though I wonder why the girls are in undergarments while Hime acts innocent and cute.

Roman and Momoka in the new ending theme
Roman and Momoka in the new ending theme

Overall, I say the second half of the episode has the best laughter material.

There were a lot of Anime and Manga differences. Be sure to check out the wiki page on episode 27 once you finished the series.

Trivia

I asked my teammates to whip out some questions for you guys, but some of them were not linked to pages. They are floating randomly when you take the quiz. Sorry about that.

*I found the questions and linked them. Too bad that they are not on the character pages when I add trivia.

KuroNekoXIII"s Trivia

If you did these, then you will see something else or a different question that does not relate to Sket Dance.

Thanks

I thank you guys for reading this; I thank my team for being there to support each other. The Roman and Momoka image is uploaded by HalberdierV2, and I did the plot and images for Sket Dance episode 27 for a fellow teammate who was busy. Please see our work and the Team W.I.K.I Nation Vitae list.

Please see SketchBook and our lovely pages.

I finally finished the whole plot with the anime/manga differences in addition to the Beelzebub's report. It was a long day.

Remember, if you really love a franchise, manga, or anime, be sure to blog about it. It'll help our community grow. Over the last two weeks, there was a lot of weekly blogs such as Sayonara, Zetsubou Sensei, Fate/Zero, and Persona 4.

Feel free to bump or comment this thread if you watch this episode in the future. I don't mind, and I will respond back because it's my role.

Updates: 10-8-11

Added the Trivia Links. Used google to find the loose questions that was submitted by KuroNekoXIII. Next time, let's add trivia on the character's page to make it easier. I think there was more, but I couldn't find them all.

Don't really understand why the show is taking the fan-service route though. Sure, the characters are cute and all but all that fanservice seems really unnecessary for a good show like Sket-Dance.

The one part I really enjoyed was seeing all of Switch's inventions.

@MohsinMan99:

Mimori, the clueless, rich, pretty one

I agree that Switch's part is really good. The Fan Service route started in the Little Princesses episode where the camera just zooms on the buttocks and chests of the girls when they start to age from 7 to 27. Plus, we get a unnecessary gainax bounce from Mimori Unyu.

Not the Exact Quotes (Since the caption could not take it):

  • Mimori: Sasuke Kun!
  • Sasuke turns around and blushes.
  • Daisy: (insert abbreviations) You pervert.
  • Sasuke: What!
  • Mimori: Sasuke Kun!
  • Sasuke turns around and blushes.

Sorry, I couldn't remember the exact quotes. I think Mimori is the prominent sex symbol in this show (not because she has the biggest bust in the show), but Hime seems to be fitting the stereotype of a violent but kind and sexy female model. Hime seems to have this strange innocent and cute moment in both the new opening and closing themes.

In the end

Hopefully, Sket Dance does not resort to fan service too much even though it's a shounen jump show aimed for boys. However, shonen series do have a large female audience, but most shonen series do not understand their female audiences' needs. I'm just hoping Sket Dance does not fall into this hole, and my partner, Anna, in this project is a woman. I haven't heard from her point of view since she's busy in her school like all of my teammates and I.

I try to get some screenshots for you. Here's some videos. Sorry, they are mirrored. It's a good thing that ShadowKnight508 has the non-mirror videos for Beelzebub. He's my partner in Beelzebub project by the way.

Thanks for the comment!

P.S. : I'm sorry I cannot convince the Gintama wiki editors to team up and do a weekly report for Gintama due to some issues that I cannot give out. I'm afraid I don't have enough time to do another project since Anna and I finished Blue Exorcist last week. She told me to keep it simple and only work on Beelzebub, Fairy Tail, and Sket Dance. (I tend to overwork myself)

MohsinMan99: If you are interested in doing these things for Gintama, I'll be glad to help you as best I can.

  1. We can divide up the work. One does the episode while the other provides the weekly reports.
  2. OR this way: one can do the weekly reports and the other provide images because the wiki portion takes too much time.

(If you have time)

I really liked Chuu-san in this episode. It pretty much summed up his entire character - An unmotivated teacher who comes up with crazy inventions, and yet, has a cool wise side to him.

The second part of this episode was HILARIOUS.....Man Switch's inventions totally amaze me! Lol and how they each have that certain flaw makes it even funnier XD

I forgot the images for Chuuma. I have to get it later.

His quote (which I forgot to add to the report) was cool.

Chuuma: If you lost your strong point to make up for your weak one, you'd throw away who you are. Think of what that means."

I love these moments and the ambient soundtract that goes with it.

@takashichea:

Yea! I liked that quote too! And what he says after is pretty cool too: "So as long as you try your hardest, there's no need to do anything more than that. Just let it be. But there are no limits to your strength."

It gets pretty inspirational, and it gives me (the person watching) a boost of confidence.

Agreed! he music also gives it a better effect, enforcing what's being said by the character :)
