Matt felt something in his sock. It had a wierd shape, and for a second Matt though Santa put coal in somehow. He didn't need a way to put it, he was Santa! But then he took it out and in his hand was a crestthat started shining. In an instant it turned into pure light and entered his digivice. Whose crest it was he will have to find out later.

Arthur was terrified of Nicolases gaze. There was just something about it. Did Santa think he was naughty? It had to be it. But he did his best to be good. Was it because he killed so much in the Hellscraper? It could be. And it made the most sense, did it not? Arthur did his best to calm down and listen to what Santa had to say.

"You two." Nikolas warned, pointing at SamJaz and Arthur. "Are usually so good. And I know lives have to be taken in battle, I understand that just as much as you do. What I'm not happy about is just how willy-nilly about it."

"And you." He added, pointing at Phantom who was ignoring him. "You can listen in on this, because you owe me a lot of backlog. Do you have any idea how many years I had to give you gifts instead of Coal because she wanted you to have a Happy Christmas? Don't think that your charity work balances out your Larceny either. You three are on thin ice. Now, if you get your acts together, maybe not slaughter everyone, I think we can work something out."

Nikolas then reached into a sack next to his arm chair and tossed a gift to SamJaz, Arthur, and Phantom. "You be good boys now." He said with a warning. "And Robin?" He added, glaring into the mirror to make eye contact with Phantom. "She's had a very clean record since day one. You get her out of this tower and keep making her happy. Otherwise, you have to answer to me."

"Why don't you help us?" SamJaz asked, pocketing the parcel. "We could use your skills in this team."

"HO HO HO!!" Nikolas laughed. "No, no, Even I'm smart enough not to mess with Shinoda Vincentsson, and I'm the Yukikage!"

Not being able to help it, a smile appeared on Crown's face. He was about to unload a rather rude speech about how he didn't need any advice and that if he wasn't happy with his life he could ask people more competent than "Santa" was. Phantom didn't think of himself as an evil or immoral person. But it looked like Santa's actual advice kinda proved his point.

He just accepted it and continue forward.

Floor -48

The new floor was the complete opposite of the previous one. The team found itself in a desert. There was no end to it. In the distance

Phantom could see a few men approach.

SamJaz whistled, flipping his jacket over his head to protect him from the sun. "Is it hot in here or is it just Hitomi?"

Hitomi glanced at SamJaz, smirking, while Hagane tossed the piece of coal she received from Santa's house in her hand.

A very decent gift indeed, depending on who these figures in the distance were.

The men who were now revealed to be in the dozens with half that many camels finally got the team. "Oh thank god you finally arrived." a young man who was probably the leader.

"Take your positions and we can go." he ordered the team as he tended to the caravan again.

By now Phantom could already guess where this was going and he didn't like it.

@Fehafare: @ChronoWolf:

"I'll trade Phantom for one of those camels." SamJaz suggested, stepping forwards to the caravan, keeping his guard up in case the scimitars came out.

@Fehafare: @SamJaz:

Arthur had no idea what was going on with these camel riders, but he thugh that maybe they thought FCL some sort of bodyguards. And he didn't care. The first thing on his mind was how he needs to cool down and find shade. Taking of his coat didn't help, but luckly the heat didn't fry his brain, just made it work a bit slower. He is a frost mage. He made a larghe dome of ice encloasing the group. It provided shade, but the sand still radiated heat. So he did an air element spell. It was significantly weaker then if he had an element in contact with air as his primary, but it was enough to create a weak wind. Alone it wouldn't be neither hot, nor cold since, again, he isn't an air mage, but thanks to the cold of the dome it became a cool breeze.

"Stop wasting time and hurry up. Spread along the caravan, we need to get out of the desert by tomorrow, sandstorm season is starting." the man gave them that last order before he turned to his men and the caravan again. "Well, looks like we go to escort them. Shouldn't be too hard." Phantom approached the caravan as he said so. "I'll be on the end, Sam can take care of the middle and Arthur you're up front. Hitomi, Matt and you can fill in the gaps." Phantom said the "you" part with venom in his voice, referring to Hagane, he didn't even know here but the fact that she was associated with Alvin was enough to produce dislike towards her.

After that he went to his designated place. Deciding to make life easier for everyone he created a few huge cards covering the whole caravan, enveloping it in a thick shadow. It was still hot, but at least it helped a bit.

@ChronoWolf: @Fehafare:

Hagane smirked as SamJaz and Hitomi filed along the caravan.

Looks like she had someone to play with.

She manipulated the sand so a continuous stream was touching the skin around her ankle, and, periodically, would transmute glass into mirrors in the distance to reflect the heat from the sun towards Phantom. Thanks to the heatwaves, the mirrors would be seen as mirages and ignored, a natural by-product of the environment. Phantom, on the other hand, would have a miserable time of it.

@SamJaz: @Fehafare:

Since the caravan started moving, Arthur obviously had to unsummon the nice, cool dome. The heat was almost unberable to him so he took his coat, which he droped infront of his feet to cool down, and put it oveer his head, covering him and, the most important thing in a desertting him from the flaming giant in the sky.

"That's quite a bit of enmity towards Hagane in your voice, Phantom. You just met her and already you're being rude to a girl as cute as her." Arthur was quite a bit anoyed by Phantoms behaviour, but he would keep it to himself if not for the murderous heat. After waiting a few seconds Arthur will take point, tell the caravan to start moving, and get around a hundred feet in front of them, scouting for danger.

"It's cause she's friends with Alvin." SamJaz shouted to the front. "Phantom has a thing against mercenaries!"

"We're really more specials for hire." Hagane said. "I mostly lecture at universities, Coleen has her DJ thing, Alvin's usually the only one doing the mercenary stuff because he's too lazy to actually get a real job."

@SamJaz: @ChronoWolf:

"Sure..." Phantom replies in a sour way. For all he knew every single word that came out of Hagane's mouth was a lie, and he had no reason to change his mind on that matter. As he was about to complain about the heat and the sun shining into his eyes somehow, he stopped something in the distance. Fine movements of the sand, barely noticeable, in fact he wasn't sure if what he was seeing was real. He left the comfort of the shadow he himself created and flew up into the air.

Looking at it from above it confirmed it, he was sure that the sand was moving. It was as if an invisible hand was running it's fingers through the sand. No that was wrong, it wasn't something that moved on the sand, but under it.

"Hey guys, i think something's happening over there." Phantom drew the attention of the whole caravan to the strange movements in the sand.

"SAND RIDERS!" the leader was the first one to yell out, and while the other people that were part of the caravan started panicking, Phantom wasn't sure what to make of it, he could already guess what Sand Riders were supposed to be, but he was curious about the details.

They were going to find out any moment anyway.

@ChronoWolf: @Fehafare:

SamJaz summoned the keyblade, Hagane converting the top layer of sand into a thin membrane that was of absolutely of no earthly use whatsoever. The idea was to use the vibrations to measure how many hostiles they were, but the whole thing broke down instantly. Not that Hagane would be able to process the data she'd get from the bounces, even if she did.

Instead, she summoned her spear, getting ready to hurl it through the nearest sand raider, or phantom set of footprints, that came into view.

@SamJaz: @ChronoWolf:

The movements in the sand came closer to the caravan and then just in a split second something burst out. It appeared like a man riding a huge mole, or rather a cross breed between that and a hairless canine. As he flew by close to one of the camels, he simply grabbed something from it before disappearing under the sand again.

Soon a few dozen more appeared in the same fashion robbing the caravan bit by bit. Some of them even kidnapped humans, pulling them beneath the sand.

While for a second intrigued by how these bandits accomplished this brand of thievery, Phantom quickly lost interest and decided to put an end to their raid.

He was still in the air so he could clearly see the movements that were happening under the sand. Using Mark II explosive cards he started cutting of the paths one by one, aiming to blast the robbers right out of their hiding places.

@ChronoWolf: @Fehafare:

SamJaz watched the subterranean assault before stabbing his keyblade into the ground and casting an Aeroga spell. The sphere of whirlwind blasted sand about left right and centre, with Phantoms bombs creating explosions and glass while Hagane manipulated sand currents to drag victims and thieves back to the surface.

The combo was vicious, and effective.

@SamJaz: @ChronoWolf:

The robbers just kept popping out of the sand. Some of them already dead because of the shockwave while others were just thrown off their mounts. One of them tried getting back to the mole-dog to disappear back into the sand, but before he could actually climb onto it's back it's throat was sliced by a card, leaving the man to run around in panic.

"Hey guys, take those things out first." Phantom yelled down at his team. He was pretty high up in the air, for him it was like a child killing ants out of boredom on a hot summer day.

@ChronoWolf: @Fehafare:

Taking Phantom's advice, SamJaz stepped out of his blender role and used Collision spells to capture the large animals. Once the animal was ensnared, SamJaz would spin on his ankle like a discus thrower, hurling the creature into the sky. On his third attempt, however, the airborne mount collided against the blue sky, cracking it and falling down, bringing with it a large metal plate.

The plate had a mechanical arm on the back, and was a sterile white. The front was buried amongst the sand and was stained in body juices, but most likely served as some kind of screen. The rectangular hole in the sky- with the corrugated metal behind it- was a stark reminder of where they were and what they were doing.

@SamJaz: @Fehafare:

By carefully following the disturbance in the sand Arthur easily figured out where those mole riders would pop out. His spear was very effective against the sand cavalry, pearcing the moles, and Arthur could riddle the rider with ice shards.

He was wet from sweat, and very dehidrated, he won't be able to last much longer in this hell.He knew he should have brought water with himself and then he remembered the candy they got from the crazy candymen. "Hey Matt you got any water candy in your gadget-thing."

"I don't think now is the time to look for such stuff!" Matt/Wolfion answered as his many snout lasers pearced a mole and it's rider at the same time.

@ChronoWolf: @Fehafare:

With Arthur's outburst bringing SamJaz back from reality and into the more imminent reality that was the battle, SamJaz twisted and pointed his keyblade at the ice mage. "AQUA!" He shouted, but nothing happened.

He remembered- he doesn't have that spell. Unlike Arthur's elemental magic that gives him free reign over the elements he controls, SamJaz's ballistic combat spells were not multifunctional, so he couldn't adjust blizzard to provide much needed hydration, nor could he use Cure to implant the needed fluids into his body- only repair damage caused by the dehydration.

Of course, saving his life wouldn't change the fact that ice mages need hydration to work, and Arthur made that huge frost dome earlier.

SamJaz rolled behind a sand dune and withdrew the package Santa left him from one of his various cargo pockets. Opening it, SamJaz found a piece of shoulder-tricep armour.

An unusual one. The armour itself was elevated a couple of inches above his flesh. It was worn on the shoulder, with no securing mechanisms further down the arm, so surely it would flap or-

SamJaz saw a magical tome underneath the armour. Examining the armour, the extra space was to slot the tome into when not in use.

Grinning, SamJaz strapped the eccentric armour onto his right shoulder, and, holding the tome in his left hand, stepped back into the fray.

"AQUA!" SamJaz shouted, summoning a waterfall to cascade upon Arthur, more than enough to completely drench him.

@Fehafare: @SamJaz:

Water! Water was falling aon Arthur. It was a surprisingly cool stream considering that they were in a desert. He greedily opened his mouth letting as much water as possibe enter. Such acctions could be dangerous for a human, but Arthur is a mage.

And then his body suddenly went limp. He felt pain in his back. One of the sand riders hit him with a weapon. Was it a blade, a club... Did a mole hit him with a claw, he couldn't tell, as everything started spinning. He fell on his knees and hands. He felt his mouth filling with a liquid that isn't water. he spat out blood, before he fell down unconceous. If the party couldn't find an elevator in the next few minutes Arthur will bleed out and die a warriors death.

That is not the death Arthur wants.
