Welcome to the weekly Quick Picks. I have compiled a list of the manga and anime releases for this week with a little commentary by yours truly.
What you see here is a pretty bleak week of releases. Not every week can be packed with anime and manga. Even so, I have managed to choose two releases to showcase. One is an anime and the other is a live action movie based on an anime:
1) Broken Blade: In Cruzon, children are born with the ability to control quartz. This power allows them to levitate simple objects - or control enormous and complex mobile battle suits called Golems. But when an ancient Golem is discovered during the height of a brutal war, a young king and his beautiful queen turn to Rygart Arrow. Though an "un-sorcerer," Rygart can miraculously pilot this ancient and powerful weapon. But in war, school friends can turn into bitter enemies and allies have suspicious motives.
2) Time Traveller: The Girl Who Leapt Through Time:Akari is the daughter of the time-travelling teen from the anime classic The Girl Who Leapt Through Time. In order to help her mother, she travels from the present to the 1970s, where she must contend with a world without instant communication and meet her father, whom she never knew.
I have not watched The Girl Who Leapt Through Time movie but I like that this live action version is described as "a Japanese drama version of Back to the Future". Your turn... Take a look below and see if you can find something to you liking. If you do let me know in the comments below.
