This month has been so busy for me, I thought after the holidays, things would settle down a bit. I thought wrong. This has left me little time to post reviews on this site. I was able to post one for the first episode of "High School DxD". I was less than impressed with it, but the series has gotten better and as of this posting, I am up to episode 4. Episode 2 had some moments of real comity of the laugh out loud sort. Episodes 2 and 3 introduced a couple of new characters, both fallen angles. One is a sweet young girl who Issei (the male lead in the story) takes a fondness to, even though she is an enemy, something Rias (the female lead) reminds him of, and tells him to stay away from. We also get told of how chess plays into every one's roll, how they move and attack. Issei is a pawn of course, but is told in episode 4 by Rias that thought weak, a pawn can become any chess piece by crossing the board, or in this case, infiltrating an enemy church. That is exactly what he does, along with two others of his new demon clan, as he tries to save his new girlfriend from the fallen angels who only want her power. The other new character is a mad fallen priest with a light sword and a gun that can do great harm to demons. The first meeting Issei wasn't a match for the mad fallen priest, but the second time they met, things went differently. The humor element was missing in episodes 3 and 4, but they did heat up the combat action quite a bit. Also of note, episode 3 was the only one so far we didn't get to see Rias nude. Speaking of which, the nudity in this one is very much gratuitous. Not quite as constant as "Queens Blade", but close.
I also did a rather lengthy review of "Freezing", which was filled with gratuitous nudity and violence, but offered little in the way of story. My twentieth review on Anime Vice was much shorter, for my all time favorite anime, "Record of Lodoss War". Please check them out!
