The World Cosplay Summit has announced, with regret, that due to how quickly the New York Anime Festival is coming up (September 25th-27th).

Unfortunately, that leaves the WCS without any partner for holding the US preliminaries. I'm sure they'll work something out, as America has always loved participating in the event (which we have since its second year, 2003). In fact, we participated prior to NYAF's involvement in the event, so I'm sure we'll continue. And perhaps NYAF and WCS will be able to work back into doing the preliminaries for NYAF 2010. But this year? No dice. Alas!

They still have a pretty good prize to replace the WCS this year. A trip to Japan, five nights in a Tokyo hotel, VIP tickets to the Tokyo International Anime Fair, and $1,000 in prize money.

The preliminaries in France (that went up at the Japan Expo) were really weird... The fact that now, with the new rules, you have to stick at the anime's spirit as much as you can, made the whole thing a lot less funny than you might had expected, we interviewed Damdam (an ex WCS winner and part of the Jury) and he agreed with this feeling...
