Last chapter we were let in onto a very important secret, the reasoning behind Hody’s hatred for the humans. His reasoning is simple, Hody has no reason for hating the humans! We also got a sneak peak into Brook's new soul powers and ice sword. Let us see what else this wonderful war has in store.
Usually in every major arc in One Piece there is one chapter that I like to call the emotional key stone chapter. A chapter that condenses all the emotion and summarizes it in one nice little package. This was the emotional key stone chapter for this arc. We learn more about Hody’s past here, going through important events in his life that have been tainted by the anger for the Humans. We see things through his eyes, and its easy to understand how a fishman like Hody can see the humans as the devil. His past is a mixture of events that mirror our real world, from our civil rights to modern day terrorism, Oda covers them all.
Most importantly, this is the chapter where the third-party character asks the Straw Hats to help them. More specifically, to help bring Fishman Island back to “zero”, to erase all the hate brewing under the sea. Which leads us to the prediction that Luffy will “destroy” Fishman Island, which is exactly what they want and what they need.
Luffy of course agrees and decides to end it all with one punch, and what a fantastic punch that was. He borrows a move from his late brother, and somehow adds fire into the mix. Will this be the end for Hody, or will he pop more pills and transform again?
I can’t say there was anything blaringly bad about this chapter.
THE VERDICT 4/5
Good chapter, even though it seemed like it was repeating a lot of information we already knew, it brought it to us in a different light which made it seem more interesting. I honestly do not know if Hody has been defeated, but even if he was Luffy still has to stop the ship, so I guess that can be the final bad guy in some sense.
