We will assimilate you through the manner most familiar to residents of San Francisco. Anally.

  • Cowboy Bebop
  • Neon Genesis Evangelion
  • Gurren  Lagann
  • Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya)
  • Death Note

These are some of the more popular ones that you might like. The list ranges from high-school life, to mecha, to psychological, to action. Try an episode from each.

PS: Glad to see you here MB :)

Anime covers a very wide breadth in terms of themes, genre, etc. While I could suggest any number of properties, I think it helps ease the transition if I get a bit more information about the sort of stuff you like from movies and television so that I don't suggest something completely foreign for a first-timer. Depending on what you say, I personally can suggest anything from comedies which deal in social commentary to suspense-ridden dramas to... probably other things I'd struggle to classify. Some of the ones already suggested would probably be on my list, too, but it doesn't hurt to know a bit more about your own tastes.

Haruhi nor Eva would be good for newbs. I love both those series, but it's not a first timer thing.

Bebop, Full Metal alchemist, GURREN LAGANN DO IT GOGOGOG, Samurai Champloo...

Stuff like that.

Gurren Lagann is terrible. The Borg has spoken. As is Code Generic-ass.

Thanks again for all the suggestions, guys.

Well some of my personal favorites are
  • D. Gray Man
  • Code Geass
  • Death Note
  • Samurai Shamploo

I would be hesitant to try Neon Genesis Evangelion as your first anime, it gets crazy as hell in the end

Maybe you should start with Hellsing, even though i hate it, some of my friends who don't like anime enjoy it.
Post by The_Borg (19 posts) See mini bio Level 1
Hellsing is excellent.

Maybe the Gravion Series is a good start.
