Good Psychological Animes?

I've been watching Serial Experiments Lain, anyone know of any other good psychological thriller/horror/anything psychological type animes?

Any recommendations?

Monster although I think it lasts about 50 episodes longer than it really needs to. Kaiba is really good. I thought Gilgamesh, Texnolyze, and Now and Then, Here and There were kinda stupid but some people really like them and they fit your criteria. Shiki kinda fits your criteria as well.

Madoka Magica is a recent one that has gotten a lot of attention as a deconstruction of the magical girl genre. And Evangelion is a must watch for any anime fan.
