On Tuesday morning, Vice President of Licensing Rob Pereyda ranked 's Fall 2010 simulcasts in order of popularity on the site. The ranking is as follows:

  1. The World God Only Knows
  2. Otome Yōkai Zakuro
  3.  Sora no Otoshimono: Forte
  4. Super Robot Taisen OG: The Inspector
  5. Fortune Arterial
  6. Squid Girl
  7. Yumeiro Pâtissière SP Professional
  8. Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt
  9. Tegami Bachi Reverse
  10. Tantei Opera Milky Holmes

Pereyda also commented that "may be the surprise hit of the season," and that part of the reason for its popularity was that has the world-wide license for the series. Although no specific viewing numbers were cited in any of the tweets, Pereyda said that the "baseline level of hits" for this season is comparable to the top levels in previous seasons.

Basically, he attributes the success of a niche title such as Super Robot Taisen OG: The Inspector (missed that bit there in the OP ;)) to being able to stream it worldwide, without regional lockouts? If he can convince the Japanese license holders to "go global", I won't complain. Though "more people could turn into the stream, therefore more people watched it" seems like stating the obvious.

Woo hoo for the success.  P&S should be higher though!

honestly I agree, P&S should be a little higher but this is also due to alot of the series no going global which I dont think is Japan speaking but clearing it with Europe and other regions due to different agreements and what others find suitable for others to watch. Crunchyroll has added a few of the new series to global streaming but a few are left behind as US only.

My personal thought is Tegami would of been a lot higher this season as first season was mid rank but now low tier, well im happy about super robot wars thou love the series.

@SpikeValantine: The weird thing is that as far as I know, the US is a lot stricter with age ratings for TV / games / movies.

@sickVisionz: You'd think so: it connects nicely to the more American tradition but... yeah, fanboys, I guess?

US is stricter on a lot of stuff, which is lame....

and fanboys do love a lot of these series which is natural I particularly like  Tantei Opera Milky Holmes  and  Fortune Arterial  which are ranked number 10 and 5    by those numbers, while Tegami Bachi Reverse and  Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt   are 9 and 10 which is odd as last time Tegami was streamed on Crunchy was number 4 and now just dropped to near last.

Luckily those listings are only via week 2 and mid season we should see a lot of changes, so here is my question, by mid season what do you think the rankings will be?

@SpikeValantine: Going from what I know from the series:

Top 4 is going to stay practically the same: unless something terrible happens (read: plot becomes a trainwreck), I can't see a lot changing. Then again, Super Robot Taisen: The Inspector has mechs and boobs.
I'm afraid Squid Girl is going to drop a few places: I hear it's very dependent on wordplay, which has never travelled well in translation. On the other hand, I can see Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt inching up higher on the charts.

Then again, I've been wrong before. Damn you, KyoAni.

Wow super robot wars is the most horrible anime I've watched next to uraboku. I don't understand how it's so popular.

because most of the viewers are mecha hardcore fans especially Super Robot Taisen and OG fans of the game. When I heard crunchyroll  got the rights to it I saw so many Gundam and Mecha forums get excited and go crazy, 1. because its been a long time since a Super Robot Taisen anime/ova was released and 2. because everyone who are on the forums will be watching it to support the mecha indistry and want more.

Personally I actually enjoy it and with the latest episodes twist im pretty excited for it to keep going. I can see Fortune going up to top 4 for sure soon.

I understood that, seems a lot of anime is going back to it's human only roots and high school shonen stuff. Not a lot of mech stuff new coming out as of late (Obviously Heroman doesn't count) lol. I just didn't know what in the hell was going on and couldn't really follow it with any interest with so much other good stuff on my watch list. I'm o137o over on crunchyroll btw. I'd love to check out your watch list for any suggestions if you have any?

hmm well its roughly per season we see different types but last 2 seasons have been alot more ecchi agreed, Heroman was awesome hoping for another season...but I know Super robot Wars has a high enough following in Japan rivaling that of Gundam series so for Japan it was a high demand, funny as they are both same company anyway lol.

I say this season I like:

The World God only knows, Ika Musume, Tegami Bachi Reverse (thou it does get tedious and boring at times), Motto to Love Ru, Super Robot Taisen, Fortune Artier, Tantei Detective, Yosuga no Sora and Stardriver...of course not all of those are from CR but still great series.

I see two reasons why it is so popular.

Also: Why does everyone in it look like they're animated by 90s era Milky Studio!?
