how do you respond when you hear people hating on anime , saying things like

"how can you watch that, its so gay"
or
"Grow up. Cartoons are for kids"

etc.

does it bother you or do you just ignore them and leave them to their ignorance

The last one i just find it funny that people feel the need to hate something then go to a place like that bothering people about his/her opinion all for nothing else but to make them feel better about themselves its pathetic XD

If want to watch something, i'll watch it and not give a damn what others say, Most people like that have never even watched an anime and if they gve it a chance they might find they like it.

I remember my best friend told me one night that she thought all anime was Pokemon. I educated her.

Other than that, I usually just roll my eyes and walk away. It generally depends on their tone but anyone that narrow minded is usually not someone I want to hang out with anyway.

I've been guilty of anime hate myself, and I think it mostly stems from a misunderstanding of what anime actually is, coupled with the grouping together of so many sub-genres within the word anime. I would see one show with a more unrefined animation style, or one that was geared to a younger crowd, and think that all anime is terrible, even though that simply isn't the case. It is my belief that most anime hate comes from ignorance, and the best way to deal with it is probably to try and educate those who may be open to it. It's usually pretty easy to be able to pick up on who could be interested and who would be too closed minded. Those that are ignorant and refuse to learn though are probably best ignored, natural selection will take care of them anyway.

I have a co-worker that thinks anime is lame, me and some other people have asked her why so many times and she literally struggles to give any sort of answer (it usually ends up being gibberish that makes no sense). She then goes and watches recess on TV after I replace her at the job. -_-

It bothers me.I think there are alot of anime fans who make the others look bad by being geeky and over-fanatical.I love manga,anime,and comics but some of the people who share the same interests are socially retarded and embarrassing to look at.Wearing cosplay as everyday clothes..f#ckin idiots.
