Anime character who is both hero and villain

For me, the character I like with those characteristics is Light Yagami in Death Note.

yeah thats a good one. Lucy is a great character in that way. constantly struggling with the good and evil in her. 
i just watched a show called Gilgamesh and there is a character called the Countess who on paper is a good guy but is such a cold hearted bitch she feels like a villain sometimes

Vegeta is the first one who comes to mind. It's not really a case of being "both" a hero and a villain though, it's more being a villain who sees the wrong of his ways and becomes a hero.
Umm... also Shadow the Hedgehog. Though there probably aren't many Sonic fans hanging out here.

In a very interesting way Luffy
 
since in their world pirates are regarded as felons and are hunted down by the government. Then again he did help the inmates of Impel down escape during the jailbreak , but this is his story.

desert punk would have to be the ultimate bad goodguy,on the other hand i dont think theres any good in him so its probably better to call him the hero bad guy....i'll quit while i'm ahead.
