Just Anime

I would imagine time doesn't quite operate in the same linear fashion in the afterlife as it does in the real world. It's a bit simple of an answer, and maybe a cop-out, but still seems a reasonable assumption. When the activities in the real world do come up, we really don't have any context for when they occurred  relative to each other, though they do appear to be taking place in the same general time period based on what we see in the setting.
