Welcome to the weekly Quick Picks. I have compiled a list of the manga and anime being released this week with a little added commentary by yours truly. For your convenience, I have also included the Suggested Retail Price (SRP), Amazon.com's andRightStuf.com's price fpr every item on the lists below.

Five pics this week! Note(s): Last week I announced a MLP: Friendship is Magic DVD release with no RightStuf.com price. Well, for those of you who care, this week the website is selling the product for $13.49. Also, there are a lot of released anime/manga that are not yet in our site's database. Be sure to help out the wiki by adding these if they are not there already. Alright, on to to the Quick Picks:

1. The Earl and the Fairy Vol. 1: Edgar Ashenbert claims to be descended from the human ruler of the fairy kingdom, and he urgently needs Lydia's help to find and claim his birthright, the legendary sword of the Blue Knight Earl. Things will never be the same for Lydia as she is pulled into a dangerous quest against dark forces!

2. Naruto Vol. 55: Evil masterminds Kabuto and Madara instigate a skirmish with Naruto and friends on Turtle Island. The Allied Shinobi Forces prepare to attack, but are they ready for Kabuto's horde of reanimated dead ninja?!

3. One Piece Vol. 61: Determined to become stronger and challenge the toughest seas in the world, Luffy and his crew decide to go into training. When they finally reunite years later, they will meet brand new enemies and adventures!

4. Grave of the Fireflies: As the Empire of the Sun crumbles upon itself and a rain of firebombs falls upon Japan, the final death march of a nation is echoed in millions of smaller tragedies. This is the story of Seita and his younger sister Setsuko, two children born at the wrong time, in the wrong place, and now cast adrift in a world that lacks not the care to shelter them, but simply the resources.

Forced to fend for themselves in the aftermath of fires that swept entire cities from the face of the earth, their doomed struggle is both a tribute to the human spirit and the stuff of nightmares.

This edition has been digitally remastered and restored.

5. Hetalia Axis Power - Complete Series: Forget everything you learned in history class, and imagine all the nations of the world as cute guys hanging out on a wildly inappropriate reality show. Now, toss in every stereotype ever and prepare to pledge allegiance to your favorite superpower in Hetalia Axis Powers!

Maybe you'll surrender to Italy's charms. He's a sweetie who's always got a noodle in his mouth and he's BFF with blue-eyed Germany and shy Japan. Sounds nice, right? Of course, their friendship sort of causes World War II, but is that really such a big deal? Not if it means those adorable allies France, America, and England will be stormin' the beach!

Contains episodes 1-52.

Special Features: Audio Commentaries for Episodes 2, 9, 12, 16, 31, 36, 42 & 46, Show Comments by Director Bob Shirahata Parts 1-3, Director Bob Shirahata's Ending Sequence Comments, Director Bob Shirahata & Atsushi Kosaka (Prussia) Talk, Atsushi Kosaka Commemorates the Announcement of the Hetalia Movie, Bob Shirahata & Aki Kanada (Chibi Italy) Talk, Bob Shirahata & Daisuke Namikawa (Italy) Talk, Textless Songs, Trailers.

@Wraith: Did you actually pay the $360+ price?

Am I the only one in the world that HATES One Piece?

Post by sotyfan16 (1,341 posts) See mini bio Level 20

Fairy Tail! Here I am with only Vol. 1-4 in my collection and Vol. 18 is out! At least the anime is keeping me company. is so proud of me.

@sora_thekey:

I saw the pictures from Facebook when they got in a shipment. Box looks cool but that price is outrageous. Same goes for the Madoka Magica set that came out like a week or so ago. And on an off note, let's not forget the $500 Harry Potter set coming out.

I'll get 5 Leaves by the end of the month or early next month.

@sotyfan16: Madoka isn't that bad considering all of the stuff you're getting with it. It's one of the few US releases that's actually higher quality than the Japanese one, which is unheard of. Fate/Zero is expensive but the JP market is the one that covers the cost of producing stuff. If they sold it for a $20 SAVE they'd probably have to close up shop and exit the anime game. I'm sure a cheaper US release will come out in a year or two.

@sora_thekey: yes I did, had enough money; I've been saving up for it

@Wraith: Much respect man! Be sure to share your thoughts on it with all of us here on AV once you get it!

@sotyfan16: If you ask me Fate/Zero and Madoka Magica box sets are waaay more worth it than Harry Potter. Still $300+ seems too much!

That Harry Potter set is a crock. You can get all of the movies on BD on Amazon in a set for $80. They give you like 2 or 3 different versions of each film and try to use that as a reason it cost so much. There should be like 24k gold trim and coated handles on that box for the $500 they're asking for it.

@sickVisionz: They should include a wand that actually works for that price!

I really need to catch up with Fairy Tail! (and a lot of others).

Is it wrong of me that I reeeally want to watch Hetalia?

Post by sotyfan16 (1,341 posts) See mini bio Level 20

@sora_thekey:

Hetalia never caught my interest. Just seems silly.

@sotyfan16: ...but silly is good! (sometimes)
