Welcome to the weekly Quick Picks. I have compiled a list of the manga and anime being released this week with a little added commentary by yours truly. For your convenience, I have also included the Suggested Retail Price (SRP), Amazon.com's and RightStuf.com's price fpr every item on the lists below.

This week I have chosen four pics. Two of them are manga adaptations of some of my favorite anime: A Certain Scientific Railgun andThe Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya The third is an anime I was interested in since it was first announced back in 2011's Spring Anime Season: A-Channel. For all you bronies out there, my fourth and last pick is the release of five My Little Pony: Friendship is Magicepisodes on DVD...

1. A Certain Scientific Railgun Vol. 3: Welcome to a world where mysticism and science collide, and supernatural powers are derived from either science or religion. At the heart of this world is Academy City, an advanced metropolis whose population is comprised mostly of students. The majority of students are enrolled in the city’s "Power Curriculum Program," where they must learn to master their latent psychic powers. Out of several million students, only seven are deemed powerful enough to have Level 5 status.

2. The Melacholy of Haruhi Suzumiya Vol. 11: Trapped on the snowy mountain by both a storm and the supernatural forces that have cut off Yuki from the Data Overmind, Kyon is roused from sleep by Asahina slowly unbuttoning her nightshirt as she climbs into his bed! Kyon realizes it cannot possibly be the real Asahina (darn!), and though he doesn't mind the house's tricks (who would?), he and the Brigade have to crack the code and escape fast before Yuki's fever (andHaruhi's restlessness) gets out of control.

3. A-Channel: Toru and Run have been best friends forever, so when Toru learns that she's managed to get into the same high school as Run, she runs to tell her... only to find Run in a compromising position with yet another girl, Yuko. Needless to say, that makes things a bit awkward at school, with Toru fending off those who might be interested in Run while Yuko and their other girlfriend, Nagi, have to deal with Run's own penchant for drama.

But it's not all angst all the time, and as the school year progresses the four girls and their many classmates find time to laugh, play, and figure out how to handle the unexpected problems life likes to throw at the them. Like bugs in the house, accidentally giving each other horrible haircuts, freezing up at karaoke, or forgetting to put your underwear on in the morning.

4. My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic: The Friendship Express: She may be the smartest unicorn in Equestria, but Twilight Sparkle gets an incomplete in friendship. There’s more to life than learning magic, after all: so Princess Celestia sends her pupil to Ponyville, where she meets five special ponies who take her on exciting adventures and teach her the most powerful magic of all . . . the magic of friendship!

Episodes Include: Friendship Is Magic, Part 1 (Mare In The Moon) (S1 - E1), Friendship Is Magic, Part 2 (Elements Of Harmony) (S1 - E2), Over A Barrel (S1 - E21), Hearth’s Warming Eve (S2 - E11) and The Last Roundup (S2 - E14)

What will you be adding to your wish list? Any "quick picks" of your own?

I still got to read Soul Eater.

Nothing for me this week. Will read Omamori Himari when a friend gets it.

I bought Vol. 1 last year and I prefer the anime. Yes, i guess the ending is different but I feel Soul Eater is better enjoyed animated.

I forgot there was a Haruhi manga, even though I own the first volume. I'd really reccommend the light novels over the manga if anyone is looking to get into the series.

Someone else who has seen and liked Railgun!? I was beginning to think I was alone here :P

Hm, if A-Channel gets released in Europe, I might pick it up. I thought it was funny and light-hearted but kinda fell out of watching it every week.

That volume of Haruhi seems to cover one of the stories in one of the light novels I've got. Reminds me I should actually read that sometime :/

Oh yeah! Railgun is one of my favorite anime. I fawn over such an awesome, and original plot! You can't help but love Misaka and Saten. Both characters are totally opposites but they are both equally alone in the world.

I agree. I love the anime because Soul looks more mature in the anime. I hate his drooling from the lip appearance in the manga.

I just wish they redid the anime but keep Maka's scythe abilities since she is biracial. Born from a meister and a weapon makes sense if she got something from daddy.

(I didn't get a PM notice from you again. Damn glitch)
