Envy reveals his/her true form in this one and, as I always suspected, that true form is a video game boss. Relax. That’s not a knock. But c’mon… don’t tell me you lunatics saw this new form and didn’t immediately think about how Ed and Ling would have to individually knock out every head, working their way up with the necessary hit points, before this monster started flashing with increasing frequency as it neared defeat?
And, of course, when they finally destroy this fiend next episode (and there's no doubting that they will) it's going to explode into an absolute shower of coins.
We find out that this he/she bastard started the Ishvalan war and while that's certainly dastardly, I’m sure there’s got to be much more to this conspiracy than what’s apparent right now. As provocative as it would be, this whole mess can’t just be about Envy getting his jollies from killing a kid and watching what happens next.
I think it’s darkly amusing that Gluttony is a failed attempt at making the Door of Truth because, well, doesn’t that seem awfully coincidental? You accidentally make a homunculus with an insatiable appetite while trying to create a bottomless pit? What, was Lust originally the result of "Father" trying to make a better blow-up doll?
I think it’s funny that the last episode was the one titled “In the Belly” since they’re actually in the belly this time. Speaking of allusions and the memories that trigger them in the oddest ways, Ed, Al and Envy's predicament seriously reminded me of one of my favorite novels, HOUSE OF LEAVES. It was about this family that moves into a house that’s bigger on the inside than it is on the outside - - as in endlessly bigger. I suppose there was a lot less intestinal bile in that story, but it was chewing on the same ideas, so to speak.
