Netflix streaming is now going to be available on both Xbox Live and soon the PS3 as well. But how about Crunchyroll? I've had moderate success streaming titles on the PS3's browser, but the browser itself is somewhat limited in capability, so it's not perfect.
Well, Crunchyroll has just announced that they've united with Boxee, a software start-up aimed at streaming online video and putting it on your TV. Boxee is already working with Hulu, CBS, CNN, and a variety of other companies, so it's set to have quite a lot of content in it.
Now, I downloaded the program and while I could find a recommendation for what was clearly a Crunchyroll video (Sasameki Koto 3), I couldn't find the Crunchyroll library just yet. I'll check back on it throughout the day and update this post when the rest of their material comes available. It's not clear from the press release how many of the shows will be available-- it SOUNDS like the entire library, and Boxee is just another tool to browse it.
It's a big full-screen program, for the record, definitely more aimed for finding a way to get it on your TV than for using it on your PC itself, but it's got a pretty smooth design. It's still in alpha, which is good because some of the navigation is a little bit odd.
