Asura only has to beat this Pein. Once he does, the match will be over or he can hunt down the real Pein.

Pain

Deva Path- able to manipulate a gravity like force to an extent that he can destroy cities and mountains, as well as construct mini moons. Deva Path has also shown high durability, speed, and taijutsu skills. Deva Path can also fly.
Animal Path- able to summon many giant summons, all of which also have the Rinnegan eyes.
Preta Path- able to absorb chakra's.
Human Path- able to read minds and rip out the souls of opponents.
Asura Path- an adroid like path capable of shooting missiles, this path is incredibly physically strong.
Naraka Path- able to summon the outer path, and is quite physically strong.
Outer Path- a godlike being summoned by the Naraka Path, resembling King Enma this path has control over life and death.

Deva

I should mention that the anime Kishin is apparently stronger than the manga.

The Kishin:
  •  has completely regrown severed limbs in seconds.
  •  has a madness wavelength that can create illusions.
  •  has tanked massive explosions and didn't react to it.
  •  can instantly put up a red shield.
  •  can use his previous partner to shoot huge amounts of power.
  •  can use his bandages/skin as a defensive and offensive weapon.
  •  can dodge at extreme speeds

But most of all he has the black blood, which allows him to take huge amounts of damage.

Well, Asura no slouch either. In terms of destructive ability he has yet to show something cause he lacks showings. He only fought once in the manga against Shinigami-sama when he finally broke free. He was probably weakened as he choose to retreat, anyways what we know about him is:

Strength: Effortlessly tosses away people with a lazy hand-weave. To note Blackstar is about the best melee fighter in the manga.

Reinforced ribbons: They can extend at long ranges and he can move them as his arms.

He effortlessly breaks through many meters of hard stone and other building materials. His durability is quite high.

He survived a full powered Shinigami Chop just fine. Also he appears to have some short of healing factor.

As the previous scan showed, he's pretty fast but it isn't that obvious until we see this scene. Here, Asura attempts to break through Shinigami's barrier with pure physical force. The shockweaves of his force is an obvious indicator.

He succeeds and Shinigami-sama attempts to catch him before it's too late.

He fails though and Asura shows he too has some kind of strong force field. He flew out of sight the next second.

Also being simply near him, even in his sealed state turns people insane and let them have various weird visions. That is if they aren't succumb to the insanity-weave completely and turn into mindless slaves of him. Anyways, let's theorize that Pain can withstand the psychological attack. He still have to deal with a hardened supersonic bullet the very least. With his own force field(and crazy speed) its obvious Asura can break through Chinra Tensei. Other than the Deva-Pain has no chance against him and cause even he can't (canonically) fly it leaves him without much chance to counter Asura's attacks. And well, if he decides to use a full-powered Chinra Tensei it obviously wouldn't work for two reasons: 1.) he has to gather his powers. Asura would kill him before Pain finishes.
2.) Many people survived Chinra Tensei even though they were nowhere near to Asura's durability. Asura has both speed and durability to avoid and survive the attack. It's bound to fail on him.

People have ignored the madness before and still managed to fight. Pein will probably think it's a genjutsu.

To clarify

Is it only Deva, or all Pain?

If its Deva he have a fair fight

If its the 6 paths they stomp.

Hmm, well this isn't an actual genjutsu, so he still may be able to fight through the madness.

@willyvereb:  Kishin Ashura doesnt have a forcefield so powerful, Shinigami Sama couldnt attack him 'couse he is attached to Death City and Cannot leave a certain radius, and Kishin knew the radius and only floated outside of it...

That kind of resistance was never shown

When Maka, Black Star, and Death fought the Kishin (in the anime), Death the Kid warned the group to "keep aware of where your soul is grounded. Be sharp or you'll immediately pulled into the madness wavelength."
Also, when the Kishin was being released, Black Star commented on how his sixth sense really sucked, and was able to get past the madness wavelength rather easily. But it was when he became too preoccupied that he hallucinated and failed at stopping the injection.
