@Shadowchaos: I don't have a problem with memes that can help move along a discussion. So that would be fine.
@Sonata: alright just making sure
K so now I want you to go and remove all links, pictures and videos off the site =\.
Go delete every single picture from every single beginning post because the artists aren't making money off of those.
How will I know if something is pirated or not? Does everyone here go and purchase every single manga, manwha and video game they get these pictures, video and links from?
I won't post anymore links because its against your rules and i respect that. Now do me a solid and with your rules go inforce them on every single thread please. That is only fair and just. Don't come back and tell me you can't because those are your rules. Fan made pictures are illegal too because that is plagiarism and the original creators are not making money from it.
Thank you in advance.
I said we continued in the other thread.
Plus, TheNeutralOne didn't read the rules set by Sonata:
New rules that will be enforced
- A 100 Post limit to battle threads. Any thread that goes beyond it will be auto-locked
- Warnings will be given to user who post pics not pertaining to the thread.
- Manga scans that have watermarks of pirated websites must be edited out.
- A stricter enforcement of Battle threads that have very little information in the OP.
Did we ever said anything about videos or fan art?
Asking to remove pirate watermarks doesn't solve the issue you have a problem with. What you're asking is on a personal level which Sonata doesn't have a problem with and what you're asking hurts the ability for us to find scans of feats. I appereciate the sentiment you have for manga developers, but this is a battle forum which already uses "pirated" videos on youtube. Please just lay off, you're overstepping your bounds on something that you would at best only be able to arbitrarily enforce.
You misunderstood my request and his argument. What he is asking will cripple the battle activity. All I'm enforcing is to remove watermarks and pirated links. I'm not going to listen his suggestions on banning manga scans, videos, or fan art. It's going to cripple the battle forum's activity. That's it.
You can use Youtube videos. It's not against the rules. Sonata did this because anymore restrictions will kill the activity. You notice most of the new users are gone and some of the old ones. It's in the gray areas using videos.
I don't see the point in removing watermarks when we already allow pirated material.
I have a hard time explaining this especially in English, it's not my native language. Anime Vice advocates legal access to manga and anime. I try not to make it personal. I know folks have to access illegally to enjoy their work. All I'm asking is to remove links and watermarks. That was it. You can still post manga scans without watermarks or links to official manga streaming sites, not the scanlation sites.
Look at Crunchyroll's manga.
Edit: I forgot the link.
I had to retrace my steps a bit. Think of this analogy. You are the boss of your own company. You have to choose over the needs of your workers and the needs to boost profit. Both choices have consequences. You need to balance between the needs of your people and survival.
Here, we are fighting piracy by eliminating pirated links and removing watermarks. We pick that because you can still post manga scans and videos even though it might come from pirated sources or official streaming sites. Do you want to go with no manga scans or videos? Are you willing to kill the activity by banning all manga and videos or just removing links and watermarks?
There are degrees of consequences for the benefits we want.
I guess the phrase is Pick the Lesser Evil or something.
@CerusSerenade: The simplest way to explain this is that if manga scans have a watermark, they actively promote the pirate sites and Vice is not advocating for such. Taka and Sonata won't stop folks from posting scans on the site, but they want to at least prevent any kind of notion that the site actively promotes or encourages piracy. YouTube's more of a gray area since there is legal content on the site, despite fansubs or rips of video content being uploaded to the site for one reason or another with the site's various users and is a whole complicated can of legal worms that they don't want to dip into. Both are in enough of a complicated position as is with how chaotic things are regularly in the Battles forum and the limited support that this site gets compared to Tested and Screened. The worst thing they want to do is commit to one extreme that either gets the site in a legal mess or completely kills any site activity.
I want to propose something. If someone adds a battle thread that has another one but it's 3 years old, the new thread is allowed, and the old thread is locked.
I found the hinata vs sakura and this Hinata Hyuuga Vs Sakura Haruno. I did revive that Shigekuni Yamamoto-Genryūsai Vs Sousuke Aizen because there was no new threads. Plus, it didn't get discussion because it was created before the two actually duke it out in the series. Was that a good call? Or next time, if I see an old thread 3 years or older, should I just lock it and create a new one?
