I think I saw this play out in a magazine years ago: Cloud chops off Squall's gunblade, Squall shoots Cloud in the face with the still-usable "gun" part of his weapon, and then Barret shoots Squall in the back of the head for cheating.
Alternate outcome: both characters spend so much time whining about their respective amnesia that the referee commits seppuku just to escape from the angst. No one wins.
