Chalk another one up for vampires-- and for adult visual novels. Fortune Arterial, a game developed by August, revolves around a guy who transfers to a prestigious English-style school (read: combined junior high / high school) on a remote island. Sounds well and good, until he learns that the popular and perky vice president of the student council, Erika Sendo, is a vampire. Before long he's tangled up in the affairs of both the school and Sendo's vampire clan...and now the game is getting an anime adaptation.

It looks to be more of a cute rom-com than a soap opera-- or perhaps more effectively, "more Rosario + Vampire, less Vampire Knight" --which doesn't sound half-bad if the characters and story are interesting. Could be good times.

There's already a manga running in Comptiq, where the anime announcement was made (as well as via commercial for said magazine).

Based on the game, I guess I would say that it's pretty squarely in between romantic-comedy and drama/soap opera.  It certainly has elements of both, with a mysterious sub-plot that gradually gets revealed and accentuates as you get further into the story.  But I guess the biggest defining element is the "school life" aspect -- it's mostly the story of a transfer student who finds himself a bit in over his head with the student council, but whose good-willed nature and leadership abilities eventually grant him the respect and trust of those around him.  This opens the door to the deeper secrets of the academy and the Sendo vampire clan.  It will certainly have elements that stay true to its roots, including how the stories of the five heroines revolve around the protagonist in some way, but it's not really a harem story either if it stays true to the original.

Wow... I remember when I first heard about the game coming out back in 2008... I guess 2 years isn't that bad for a VN to get an anime adaptation. Erika's voice could be a little annoying though, mainly because she didn't sound her age at times.

Wait... doesn't this sound extremely similar to Rosario + Vampire? or have I gone insane?
