The God of Light, Genma Lord, the greatest and oldest enemy of the Oni clan
Fortinbras has existed long before the events in Onimusha taking place, it was said he created the Universe as the God of Light. He also created the Genma race in his own visage, and the humans, to be enslaved and feast by the former race as fodder. However, his opposite the God of Darkness, toke pity over the humans and created the Oni race to fight against the Genma. After a bloody war, the Oni and the Genma come to a truce where the human race were allowed to live and being given the Genma tecnology but they have to sacriffice their own kind to the genma. The truce was broken and the God of Darkness became the first Onimusha and defeated Fortinbras but not before vowing to make the humans pay for their transgression of the truce. During Japan Warring States time, Fortinbras came across Nobunaga Oda, a warlord killed by a arrow during a battle, and was revived by the Genma.
In order to turn Nobunaga immortal and even more powerful to be his general and lay waste over the world, Fortinbras kidnapped Princess Yuki to use her skull as cup for Nobunaga to drink her blood. His efforts failed though, a samurai warrior called Samanosuke Akechi rescued the princess and killed Fortinbras in his snake form. He ressurrected as demon form adn fought with Samanosuke, who had become the Onimusha and finished him off. Before dying, Fortinbras had a glimpse of the future seeing Nobunaga finishing what he started to have the Genma triumphant over the humans and Oni race.
For about 30 years, Fortinbras stayed dead and the Genma were ruled by Nobunaga who also fought against the Oni race and was defeated and his name appeared to have been forgotten for a long time. However, Nobunaga's successor, Hideyoshi Toyotomi take up his mantle and started to spread Genma over the world trying to conquer Asia with his army. He was helped by his retainer, Mitsunari Ishida, a Christian missionary called Luis Fróis, his concubine Lady Yodo and a strange man in white who were none other than Fortinbras, ressurrected by the Genma triumvirite, represented by the people above. Although back to life, he were no longer powerful as he were before as the God of Light. He appeared as human-like figure resembling a European nobleman sporting a pocket watch he keep viewing as he was counting the time to return back to his power. Once again, his efforts were countered by the Onimusha, this time he was no longer a human granted wih magical powers but the reincarnation of the God of Darkness himself; a young man called Soki.
With every single cooperator to the Genma cause destroyed, Fortinbras reached his full power and no longer was a rival to any human. Only Soki, the God of Darkness had the power needed to destroy Fortinbras for once and for all. After a massive battle in the skies, Fortinbras was killed and his soul was burned into the oblivion marking the end for the Genma clan forever.
