Naota Nandaba's life is turned upside down when a mysterious vespa-riding woman attacks him with her guitar. Now there are robots coming out of his head...

Plot Overview

Naota Nandaba's days has been same and dull ever since his brother left to America; He just goes to school, have petty fight with Eri Ninamori, and spend rest of his day with Mamimi and comes back home. All of those changes when Haruko Haruhara comes out of nowhere and smashes Naota's head with her bass guitar, creating passageway for robots to come from Medical Mechanica including Canti.
Since the said incident, Naota life has not been same ever since; he is being constantly examined by Haruko for unknown reason, gets investigated by Amarao as if he was a target suspect, and becomes enemy against Medical Mechanica.

Mixing a narrative inspired by the same studio's His and Her Circumstances with characterization and designs influenced by their earlier Evangelion, FLCL represents a determined effort by Gainax to both supercede its successes of the late 1990s and incorporate elements of the one title that competed with them in fans' polls as the show of the moment. Utena-writer Enokido brings a surreal tinge to the whole operation. All but episode one were released in Japan with English subtitles on DVD.
