I'm mostly posting this for my brother, who is the world's biggest Fist of the North Star fan (and, until I started working as an anime journalist, the only one I knew). Discotek Media, a small company devoted to cult films (particularly those of Asian descent-- you may have spotted their releases of Lupin III The Fuma Conspiracy and Puss in Boots, among a few other anime, has apparently acquired the US license to the original 1986 Fist of the North Star film.
The release will be bilingual (I'm not sure if it will include the original dub by Streamline, who released the film in the US in 1991, or a new one-- presumably the former; I've got an e-mail out to try and get more info) and is due out in May 2009. So now I have my brother's birthday present. Huzzah! [Via Anime on DVD]
