One of the four elemental bending arts, firebending is the the ability to create and control fire utilized by the people from the Fire Nation.
Firebending is one of the four major forms of bending and is inherent of members of the Fire Nation. The original firebenders learned the art form from the ancient dragons that populated the world and passed it down to humans of the world. Drawing energy from the sun and celestial objects, firebenders are able to use their internal body heat to extreme waves of fire from their hands, feet, and even breath fire. The techniques required to master firebending require concentrated breathing and understanding on how fire makes life and energy. After the rise of Sozin and the death of Avatar Roku, this concept was lost to the idea that the true mastery of firebending came from anger and hatred. Firebenders are also able to manipulate and create lightning as it is a form of energy that requires inner body strength to control it. Similar to waterbenders and the moon, firebenders rely on the sun to use their firebending. During the event of a solar eclipse or during the night, a firebenders abilities are weak or inert (mainly in the case of an eclipse). The techniques and fighting style of firebending are similar to the Northern Shaolin style of kung fu from Asia.
