HEY! You guys got my Giantbomb in you're Anime Vice!

EDIT: Ha! John has the exact opposite problem with facial hair as me. For the life of my i cant grow any hair on my goatee area. This sucks for me since all the cool facial hair styles need that area of hair. The best i can do is 70's mutton chops.

I two-shot Sephiroth with my manhood.

Anyone else thinking that Vanell and Fang have Aussy accents for the same reason characters from Osaka had southern accents in the Burst Angel Dub?

I now have a mission. I must go check my FF7 save file to see if I can kill him in two shots.

Knights of the Round is most likely involved.

Check out John losing the button to act all macho then putting it right back.

Oh yeah, I defeated all the Weapons in Final Fantasy VII as well. Ruby was the hardest for me. Mostly because it had that ability to blow away members at random. For Sephiroth, I simply cast the summons Knights of the Round and used the Mime ability to copy it. I discovered that loophole around the summons limit. I could use it as many times as I wanted.
I couldn't two shot Sephiroth by using Knights of the Round (though to even have that summons you would of had to of bred a Golden Chocobo). I defeated all the Weapons and I maxed out my characters stats to as far as they would go. I spent a lot of time in that submarine using the Item ability and turning monsters into stat upgrading items. It got to the point where the stats wouldn't go any further. When I used that technique to defeat Sephiroth. I know I used the summons over six times.
How do you two shot someone who had several stages of transformation?? His second form had several segments to attack. the head, core, two arms, and the body.
I believe the max damage in Final Fantasy VII was a 9999 limit.

Though, in comparison. Sephiroth was pretty easy when put up against the challenge of all the Weapons.

I actually want to play God of War III before I play Final Fantasy XIII.

Your Vanille impressions just make me think of Luc of Professor Layton fame. Fantastic.

@CrazyCanuck: I'd say it's more because there are plenty of Aussie voiceover actors residing in Tokyo and they work quick n' cheap.

The game looks solid from what I've seen.  The really slow start is really bumming me out and the linearity for most of the game is a bummer as well.  Maybe this is a game I will pick up sometime this summer.

I don't mind games having linearity in it but most of them don't make it obvious like how FF13 is. It's kind a sad because the characters and story are good but gameplay (in some parts in it) get in the way of the enjoyment.

A mid levelled character could 1 shot Sephiroth, assuming you're referring to Bizarre (The angelic form). KOTR hits 13 times, each having a possible damage of 9999, giving just shy of 130,000 damage. Bizarro only has 80,000HP, so even a somewhat levelled character could trash Sephiroth with it. Someone who's beaten the Weapons could beat him with nary a second glance.

However, several circumstances can drasticaly alter this. Any character who's at the top level adds an extra 30,000 HP to him, which gives a possible 210,000HP incease. Couple this with the fact that if you use KOTR on the previous boss encounter, it adds an extra 80,000 on top of this. So in theory, he can have a maximum of 400,000 HP, assuming YOU are incredibly overpowered (Primitive scaling system). However, John is right. You can flat out one shot Sephiroth with KOTR.

@Sombre:
That would explain why it took so long for me to defeat him. I had my characters maxed out on levels and stats as far as I could push them. I played the game off and on for months until the game clock maxed out to 99:99, and was still playing.

It's really obvious Fang's voice actress is not Australian. It sounds like the director of the dub told her to play a pretty exaggerated stereotypical bogan. She's kind of like female Steve Irwin from what I've heard of her except mixed with a little bit of an African accent.

Vanille's voice sounds closer to what an actual Australian sounds like if you rip out the genki/Japanese school girl vibe that the director wanted.

For the main party (and Serah) from what I've heard of them voice wise I would say it's:

1. Sazh
2. Snow
3. Fang
4. Serah
5. Hope
6. Vanille
7. Lightning

Lightning and Vanille are tied and same for Snow and Fang.

Snow's just the jock character, it's one of the many character archetype staples of Final Fantasy. *Although I'm not too far in and I've heard they actually all get quite a bit of character development compared to other Final Fantasy games*

So breaking it down:
Lightning = reluctant sullen hero (ie. Cloud, Squall, Cecil [well as a dark knight at least])

Snow = jock (ie. Zell, Wakka, Sabin, Cid [FFVII Cid is like an older version of this])

Vanille = Genki girl, which is one of the more annoying and more popular archetypes (in no particular order Yuffie, Selphie, Rikku, Penelo, Krile, Relm, and you could make a case for Eiko)

Sazh = wacky character that is sort of comic relief *Although I hear he becomes quite deep as the game progresses* (ie. Umaro, Cait Sith, Quina, Edward)

Hope = angsty teenager (ie. Tidus, Vaan, Rydia, [before she goes to the Feymarch] Seifer [except with 5 times more rage, older, a little insane and 7 times more violent tendencies and serve with a heaping spoon of arrogance])

Fang = somewhat mysterious badass (ie. Auron, Vincent, Edge, Shadow, Armarant, Basch/Reddas, [I want to only show main characters but Reddas is pretty bad ass] Irvine, [except throw in a pretty boy character design and a little bit more depth] and I guess Paine)

Yep it's that easy. Also I bet once I progress further I can point out many more base archetypes present in the Final Fantasy series and represented in FFXIII.

Gia Sephiroth is a bitch he goes down easy compared to the Weapons. Although ya you can't two shot him exactly because he has multiple forms. As Sombre said though in theory you can actually one shot the Bizarro form however like trying to do this to any of the bosses requires some knowledge that is not readily apparent to the player.

Also this really makes me want to boot up my copy of FFVIII that I bought again on PSN and see if by severely abusing the Junctioning System, level scaling and probably limit breaks in the game one shot Ultimecia's 4th and final form. Than again there is new games I want to play.

@Boddington:   I'm pretty sure the recording of the dub was in L.A. seeing as most of the cast is from the U.S. and I believe Vanille's voice actress lives in L.A. at the moment. I just got the vibe that they wanted to try to exoticize the characters from Pulse so they give them accents that are stereotyped heavily in the target audience. In Japan it's the Osaka accent and in North America they decided to go with Australian out of the other possible stereotypes they could pick from and in both they exaggerate it as well I'm guessing. (I can't speak for the Japanese VO but Fang sure is exaggerated and Vanille probably would be two if they would lay back on the whole hyper Japanese school girl [but in English] vibe they throw in there.)

I don't like Hope.  Never use him.

Fang is meh.  Sazh is my favourite.

I loved the Vanille impressions...this game is a day 1 buy for me when I get a PS3 in April.

Chapter 11 is awful and just backs up my belief that the Final Fantasy games suck when not linear.
I really like Hope, Lightning and Fang, the rest could burn in hell for i care especially snow.
I hit a self imposed wall in chapter 12 because i rushed through 11 just to get out of the missions.

Edit:

About Vanille's voice, How is it possible for an Australian actress to periodically drop into a kinda midlands based English accent.
Also in chapter 11 did they decide to make the world look like ass when compared to the rest of the game. there are just strange seams issues and just stupid cuts for a cut-scenes.

Edit2:

I guess I see Snow as a weak assed version of Balthier from 12, Balthier knew he was the main guy and it gave him a likeable cockeyness, Snow however is a stupid idiot
The VO is much better for Lighting than it was for Liara T'Soni both of whom were voiced by Ali Hillis.

i do not if this counts but it only took him one turn for him to kill him abut  16 hits in that one turn
