So, we've been talking a lot about Final Fantasy XIII's Serah-- more than we've talked about lead heroine Lightning, in fact --and in particular, her similarity to the lead in Bible Black. But now that there are some full scans of her available, I'm officially calling it: Serah will be among the most over-cosplayed characters in 2010.
Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, by the way! But a red plaid skirt with lace, black thigh-highs, tan high-tops and a white sleeveless button-down with a collar? Very, very easy to acquire at some combination of your local Target, Goodwill, and about five minutes at a fabric store. If you weren't worried about getting the necklace right, you could probably put this together in a day without spending too much money-- but the outfit is still very distinctive.
Which is, in its way, the sign of a really strong design. And I will totally shoot tons of photos of hot women dressed as her no matter how many of them I see. And then I'll double-check to make sure she's from Final Fantasy XIII, not Bible Black.
What do you think? Am I way off? Is the side-ponytail too '80s for western cosplayers?
