That splashing liquid is, in fact, champagne.

I know how excited some of us-- errrr...some of YOU...guys...*ahem* I know how excited some of you are for Final Fantasy XIII's upcoming release. I bet some of you are so excited that you'd like to throw a party. Or better yet, go to a party someone ELSE is throwing. Right?

So...how about Square Enix's party?

Yes, if you're over 18 and you sign up for an account at Square-Enix.com, you can enter to win one of 200 invitations to Final Fantasy XIII Experience, which is a promo event taking place March 8th, the day before the game's release. If you're over 21 and "Bronze Tier or above" (which I assume means a contributing member at the site), you can win an invite to the Final Fantasy Launch Party, a smaller VIP event taking place on March 8th, but at night. Both events are taking place in San Francisco.

There are a few other goodies on Square's FFXIII page, including a chance to win a Final Fantasy XIII Xbox 360 Limited Edition bundle, so check it out.

Oh, and we got the trailer on-site today too. Enjoy!

For those of us who can't make it to any official FFXIII party-- are you planning to do anything when the game comes out? I'm probably going to take a "day off" (read: work at home day) so I can stay home and play it once it's out.

Giant Bomb posted a great video about the battle system in the game today.

Sounds pretty cool. I have always wanted to visit San Fransisco. If anything because that's where my favorite show Mythbusters is filmed.

The trailer was feeling rather generic until the last third. It got far more interesting. It's difficult to go the emotional route in a trailer when you have yet to attach to any of these characters or even know what they are talking about.

Being a PS3 owner. I don't really care for the XBox 360 package.

I'll be writing my second Power Systems midterm at 7pm and probably finishing up the final equations I want on the onesided crib sheet we are allowed to use during the midterm.

I'll probably pick up my preorder earlier in the day and put it with the a bunch of other games I'll get around to playing come some of the weekends/evenings of summer. (co-op/summer student position will hopefully fill the weekdays) As much as I will want to bust that open, it would not be a wise idea.

Tuesday is my busiest day so I won't be playing it until the evening. Although our anime screenings are Tuesday nights... fuck.

Can I just say, I really wonder who paid who on the Leona Lewis/FFXIII deal? I mean, the song is so mediocre, so Square didn't get anything really great out of it, and I can't imagine a lot of gamers will go out and buy it having heard it in the game's trailers @_@

Well, packages are really only useful if they are just super, super awesome (worth selling your system to replace it with) or if you are finally caving to buy the system for this game. This late in the console war how many people are "caving?" and does that number warrant making a SE?
