There are lots of amazing figures out there. This is not one of them-- though at least unlike the recent gothic Asuka, it's not hideously expensive. But check this out: the girl's waist is entirely too long, and her face looks downright sickly, not to mention the girl has no pupils.
This is Charlotte Francia (or Carrlotte, if you ask HobbySearch), and she's from an eroge titled Quartett! -The Stage of Love- by maker LittleWitch and released in non-adult form on the PS2 by Princess Soft. And I suppose if you like your girls to look like they're going to break the second you lay a finger on them-- and to have weird seams in the backs of their heads --then maybe she's right up your alley. And at ¥3800 (about $40 USD), she'll fit your pocketbook better than many figures.

But...for a Kotobukiya figure, I am not impressed. How about you?

@SimonJones: I remember stumbling across Quartett promo art years ago, and really liking the style--it's rather unique in the rather bland world of VN/eroge art styles, and even in anime art in general. The fact that all the characters were also holding various stringed instruments certainly didn't hurt.
 
I think the "thin and fragile" assessment comes from the fact that Nocchi draws <i>ribcages</I>, which isn't normal as most anime artists (understandably) forget that people have body parts <i>under</i> the skin. They can be impossibly skinny but you somehow never see the ribcage. Someone might be having flashbacks to pictures of emaciated children.

@SimonJones: Yeah, I didn't have any problems with the look of the game when I saw them...but it definitely didn't work for me here! @_@;; Do you guys publish any manga or artbooks  by him? Or would I have to import to check out his stuff?
 
@OneGreatTurtle: Yeah, I have that problem all the time with models and stuff in real life. Ribcages just aren't sexy-- even in the age of thin-is-in, we want a certain amount of fleshiness. I even don't like those BMWs that are super flat-ish and have those vents along the sides...because they remind me of ribcages. *shudders*

then again after much consideration i would buy the figure, i like sickly girls

@gia: I'm pretty much against the "thin-is-in" with most everything; I enjoyed the Real Drive character designs simply because they actually had weight and looked good with it. The Internet felt otherwise, sadly. I do have an upper limit, and being thinner is healthier, but skin-and-bones is a big no-no. And, really, biologically speaking, having more weight also means you're better equipped for child-bearing, as the growing child can draw on fat reserves for energy and such; similar goes for larger breasts, which give the appearance (if not actual fact) of being better equipped to nurse the newborn. Remember your prehistorical fertility goddesses!
 
@SimonJones: He does draw inspiration from European fashion from what very little I've seen. This is only a plus as I love old-school European fashion (Elizabethan frills? Powdered wigs? Cravats? I'M SO THERE), which is pretty much the only time in which I think everyone knew how to dress well.
 
There's some unusual eromanga/doujinshi/fanart styles out there for sure; every so often I hit upon someone who just has a straight-out unique style. Not even necessarily in a "so hot" fashion, but in that general aesthetic fashion.
