Master of all things PVC and/or ball-jointed Danny Choo reports on a new line of figures from Griffon. They're called Figutto, they're launching with To-Heart 2's Tamaki, and they're not terribly unlike Max Factory's Figma line of articulated (jointed) boys'n'girls. Well...I guess there's at least one difference...

I think I prefer the slightly more reasonably-endowed Figma here, personally, although perhaps not all Figutto figures will be quite so...well, let's just say that Tamaki here has had a little work done and her swimsuit is, in fact, a pushup bra. On the other hand, I also think that Figma's articulation is a bit less jarring in appearance (it kinda looks like the joints are a different color than the rest of the skin here), but perhaps with more time Max Factory will smooth that out a bit.

Actually, a quick look at the official Figutto site shows two Touhou figures, both of which look quite a bit nicer than this Tamaki IMO, although since they're wearing more clothes their articulation is harder to see-- but they're also less busty! Also of note, one of those Touhou figures actually uses a magnet to hold her switchable hair on, which seems rather clever; most figures use those pain-in-the-butt tab-A-slot-B systems that rarely give the desired effect...

So, Figutto may turn out to be pretty awesome. In the meantime, though, did you know that you can buy a (non-functional) power scooter for your Figmas, complete with on-road and off-road tires (wtf)?

@Niko: Well, true. It may be an unfair comparison, but I was having trouble finding a swimsuited Figma-- I think the articulated figures tend to favor being clothes so as to better hide said articulations. @_@

I think I'll stick with Figmas, but Tamaki looks nicer than those jointed K-ON! figures that were previewed a few months ago.
