As part of Hobby Japan's 40th anniversary, a series of figures based on historical, um, figures is being developed by Alter, and let me tell you, these ladies are gorgeous.

 Absolutely beautiful.
 Absolutely beautiful.
You've got a female version of Yagyuu Juubei, a legendary samurai, Hattori Hanzou, another popular samurai (although less familiar to westerners than Juubei, I'd guess, though I mostly recognize the former thanks to Jubei-chan), and Senhime.

It's the Senhime figure that really caught my eye. The historical Senhime was the granddaughter of Tokugawa Ieyasu, Japan's first shogun, and she had a tough life-- perhaps explaining her rather unhappy facial expression. But the detail of her design and in particular her open kimono is really stunning.

Unfortunately, at ¥6630 (about $75 USD) on sale, she's a bit out of my price range for the time being. She's due out in June though; maybe I could pull cash together by then...

Im not a figure collector but I would love to have this Senhime figure.  Not really a fan of the Yagyuu or the Hanzou figures.

The Senhime figure reminds me a bit of Shizuru, spear and all. Maybe that's why that one's so appealing to me...

So what makes her "historical"?  The spear?  Because it's not her school-girl like outfit.
Oh, n/m.  I looked at the link.  She's NOT historical. She's just...kind of based on someone.

Definitely nice, well made figures, but if I was going to buy a figure, which I may do at some point I dunno, I'd want a figure of an anime character I know.
But yeah, nice for those who want one obviously :)

@Kris: I think it's fair to call her "historical" in theme, if not in accuracy ;)

I'm not a 100% sure but I think having that figure could be illegal it's sooooooooo good.  That said, worth going to prison for!

I think her facial expression (or lack thereof) is botox-related. They had that at the end of the Sengoku Jidai, right?
Perhaps this is the fanboy fetishized representation of a 歴所, a current fad in Japan of women who enjoy historical figures, events, and sites.
