The character has known the protagonist for a long time, typically all his/her life. If he/she's from the opposite gender there's a high chance he/she has a crush on the main character.

Flashback

Used frequently in Anime to either recap past events or provide a back story for a character, either their origin story or their off-screen training of new attack. Sometime and entire episode/chapter would be a entire flashback.

Homunculi

Featured in both FullMetal Alchemist manga and FullMetal alchemist anime, even featured in the FMA film Conquorer of Shambala. In both manga,and anime Homunculi are near immortal and are the enemies of Ed and Al.

Implied Sex Scene

Due to censorships, anime has a funny way of implying a scene where the characters may have sexual intercourse. It happens in manga, too.

Kendo

Kendo translates to "Way of the Sword". It is a sword competition using bamboo swords called a shinai. It is a popular martial arts practice in Japan.

Kissing

Kissing is the act of pressing your lips to the body of another person. This can be on the cheeks, head, hand, but more commonly to another person's lips.

Knight

The character is officially a knight. He/She usually values honor above everything else and fights for justice. There are perhaps exceptions...

Magic

Magic is an often used term in fiction. It is the concept of affecting the universe through supernatural methods and breaking the physical laws.

Seen in just about every form of anime at least at one point. The key component that makes Shounen popular among boys. As well as Ancient art in itself

Moronic character

The kind of character always gets into trouble by his or her bad luck, silliness, and/or cluelessness. A common source of comedy.

Priest

The character is working as a priest, a guide and teacher of God. Often leads holy rituals such as marriage and burials.

Samurais were warriors of feudal japan

Servant(Heroic Spirit)

Warriors summoned for the Holy Grail War in Fate/ Stay Night. Legendary heroes of the past, now Half-spiritual beings with extreme power.

Sisters

Female members of a family that share the same parents.

Spellcasters

The character is adept at casting magic. In addition using spells is an integral part of his/her fighting style

Summon

The character is summoned from some place else and generally it means he/she/it became someone's familiar.

The villain of the story.

A genre of anime/manga featuring girl-on-girl relationships. Although the genre originated in female-targeted works, today it is featured in many male-targeted works as well.

Zettai Ryouiki

Literally meaning "Absolute Territory", zettai ryouiki is the area of uncovered thigh between the skirt and the knee sock.
