Overview

Hi everyone! I got some good news. According to the official movie website, Fairy Tail will have its first movie coming out on August 18, 2012.

Not much information is given about the plot of the movie. I think the information is on the official movie website, but it's in Japanese.

Background: For those who do not know Fairy Tail, Fairy Tail is about Natsu Dragneel and Happy who are in search for Natsu's father, Igneel. When Natsu meets Lucy for the first time, he and Happy bring Lucy into their guild. Fairy Tail is the name of Natsu's guild that has a group of mages/wizards who take different jobs to make a living. The anime revolves around Natsu, Happy, Lucy, Gray, Erza, and others as they take on missions and support each other when times get rough.

• Story - Hiro Mashima who is going to do the guest character design as well.

Japanese book publisher Kodansha began streaming a promotional video for the limited edition of Fairy Tail's volume 36, which will include a copy of the Fairy Tail: Hōō no Miko DVD. Also included will be a special prologue DVD titled “Hajimari no Asa” (The Morning of the Beginning), along with a special postcard set with 16 different postcards. The set is priced at 3,980 yen (about US$46).

The 30-page "Hajimari no Asa" side-story manga that inspired the anime short came bundled with advance tickets to the movie, which opened on August 18 in Japan. (The video above advertised the advance tickets with the manga.) Mashima was in charge of story planning and visual design for the film's all-new plot, and he also drafted the guest character designs and image concept art.
