Fairy Tail (Guild) News

Fairy Tail (Guild) is a anime/manga concept
| |

Welcome to the new series of blogs called Family Time! I had this weekly idea of doing Moe Monday, Tsundere Tuesday, and such, but I scrapped the idea. I didn't watch a lot of anime to keep the writing mojo going. This family time theme I'm doing will put some love in this community. Family is more than blood. Some of you folks are watching with friends, neighbors, co-workers, and etc. They're family, too. I was inspired by Sam Weller who wrote articles about watching Madoka Magica with his girlfriend to do this blog.

A little background info:

Watching anime on Saturday mornings with my brothers and sister was a pastime back then. Now, with the age of the internet, my family and I are watching new shows on Youtube (mainly Funimation's) before settling down on Crunchyroll and HULU. I never thought myself as an anime fan, more like a casual watcher. During my Anime Vice years back in October 2010, I tried a lot of anime series, and the main one that my family and I have watching since 2010 was Fairy Tail. It has been almost three years, and when Hiro Mashima had told the fans that the anime is going to end on March 30, I was a bit sad. All good things come to an end sooner or later. I thought it would be a good time to start this thread on Fairy Tail and share some nostalgic feelings that my siblings had.

Before I talk about the fun times that my family had with Fairy Tail, here is a synopsis of the show for those who are new to this franchise:

Fairy Tail revolves around Natsu Dragneel, Happy, and Lucy Heartphilia who are members of a guild called Fairy Tail. The three go on missions seeking adventure and end up making a big mess of things. Fairy Tail is known for causing lots of havoc and getting into fights with those who seek to hurt their guild members.

Family Time!

*Don't worry, I didn't put any spoilers.

It started with the manga
It started with the manga

I got started on Fairy Tail when my little sister came home from the public library and checked out first volume. She mentioned that she picked it out because the cover reminded her of One Piece due to the drawings. I was surprised that the man who did Rave Master was behind Fairy Tail. After reading the first volume together, we were hooked on Fairy Tail with its humorous shenanigans and its lovable characters. For my little brother, he loved Happy so much especially the parts where Happy teased Lucy. My sis loves Freed because of his cool ability with Runes. When we're done reading all the volumes that the public library had on the shelves, my sister found out that Fairy Tail had an anime. I had no expectations on the voices or music, so I was open to anything. When watching the first episode, I enjoyed the voices for Natsu, Lucy, and Happy along with everyone else. Also, the first opening theme song still remained in my head for these past years just like Bleach and Pokemon.

What Fairy Tail appealed to my little siblings and me was the comedic scenes and misadventures of Natsu's guild and the whole fighting for your Nakama themes. Back then, I didn't mind the shonen cliches of one fighting for loved ones. I find Natsu's speech when he fights tough opponents for the sake of his friends admirable. Makes his big fights all emotional. Erza and Gray had great chemistry in Natsu's group. These guys always gave some good laughs and fights. As the years gone by, Fairy Tail was starting to lose its appeal by the Edolas arc. My older brother didn't enjoy how Fairy Tail brings someone back without any real place for the character. It makes their back story meaningless. With the recent filler arc, it is hard to look forward to Fairy Tail. At that time, Sket Dance was the most popular thing in my household. Though, Fairy Tail outlasted Sket Dance when Sket Dance came to an early end in August 2012. The last arc, the tournament, for the anime kept us watching the anime. Some fights are awesome while the others are disappointing. The only one who enjoyed the Fairy Tail the most up to this day was my youngest brother.

Issues with Fairy Tail

Folks who read Fairy Tail hoped the anime has blood and lose some censorship. I didn't mind those changes neither did my siblings. Though at some point, scenes that has characters exhausted and coughing looks strange without blood. As for fan service, manga has a lot of it. Anime has them too but in small doses. Even though my youngest bro is 10 years old, I had no trouble with Fairy Tail. It's pretty tame; however, the OVAs are a different story.

In the end, Fairy Tail will still have a place with my family because we can't forget Natsu and his lovable gang who brought us some laughter and tears.

Hope you enjoy this blog! I hope it motivates you guys and gals to share about watching anime or reading manga with family and friends.

With the recent Fairy Tail anime heading deep into the Grand Magic Games arc, we had a recent beach episode (153) that didn't have the manga scenes where Natsu and his gang decide to peep on Lucy and her gals taking a bath. The OVA has those scenes plus some extra stuff. Be sure to watch the trailer.

The OVA will be released in Japan on November 16, 2012, and it will be bundled with a limited edition of volume 35.

Please enjoy the trailer and support the Fairy Tail franchise.

Welcome to the Fairy Tail weekly report! I'm going to cut this blog short. Sorry guys and gals, I'm working on too many wiki projects. It's all for the good for this community. We need more wiki editors, and I hope the work that my teammates and I do will promote the wiki.

Sabertooth, raise the roof!
Sabertooth, raise the roof!

The eight participating guilds of the Grand Magic Games are introduced! Along with Fairy Tail, there are old friends and rivals, old and new enemies... and at least one team that's completely unexpected!

— Crunchyroll

First off, I like to introduce the teams before we go over the good and bad stuff.

Teams

Sabertooth

We got three new characters revealed.

So far, I enjoy their character designs. Rufu's masquerade theme is unique, and Yukino Aguria reminds me of Angel but prettier and more modest. Orga and Sting are raising their fists to the audience while the rest of the team are pretty mellow. It's a nice touch.

Fairy Tail B

This team looks much better than Team Natsu. Black is an awesome color for this team. It's slimming, sexy, and cool. I'm running out of adjectives right now. Mirajane and Juvia look beautiful while Laxus, Gajeel, and Mystogan look handsome. Laxus showing them abs off in a modest yet cool way unlike Sting and Orga who showing a lot of skin.

Raven Tail

Raven Tail looks fearsome. I like Corona's look, and the mysterious leader's mask. Talk about being dark and fierce. I thought Nullpudding would be green since he looks like a frog, but he's pink. Obra is a strange fellow. I'm stoked to see their powers as well.

Mermaid Heel

The mysterious girl's face and clothing design is a big tip off. I won't spoiled you. Kagura and Arania look spectacular. Beth looks like a normal farmer girl, and Risley is pretty wide which adds to the diversity. You can't have too many big boobed, beautiful girls in this show.

Lamia Scale

Chelia is pretty clumsy like Wendy. I wonder what are her powers. Toby's attire is ridiculous. Who would wear a sock as a necklace? Jura is sporting a wicked beard. Lyon is just as flashy as Gray.

Blue Pegasus

All the pretty boys are dressed up nice. The blue bunny is a random character. I was expecting another Bishie in their group like Loke's caliber or another beautiful lady.

Quatro Cereberus

In my opinion, this guild doesn't stand out much. Their wild hair designs are like a rock band which makes them stand out more.

Fairy Tail A

Finally, team Natsu. The purple uniforms are pretty surprising. I was expecting red, yellow, or blue. Purple looks nice. I wonder why Hiro Mashima went with that color.

Wiki Updates

Due to the characters' name, my partner Daniel Newton changed some of the names.

  • Eve Thylm to Eve Tilm
  • Juvia Loxar to Juvia Lockser
  • Lyon Bastia to Lyon Vastia
  • Nullpudding to Nalpudding.

Daniel Newton is making new profile images for the new characters.

Plot

Sky Labyrinth

Welcome to the Fairy Tail weekly report! We're in the elimination rounds, and we're almost starting the tournament. The action pack fun is almost within our reach if Fairy Tail picks up the pace.

Natsu and his gang have to figure out how to get through the crazy mazes and contraptions of the Sky Labyrinth to reach the goal before they get disqualified. Can they do it and will Lisanna & Happy find Wendy & Charle?

Note: Charle, Charla, or Carla has different spelling, so I'm sticking with Charle because I'm used to it. I'm sorry.

Verdict

Beware of spoilers!

Good

  • For Elfman fans, be prepared for his awesome manly feats. It's a been long time since we see Elfman taking the spotlight. Hopefully, he gets some action in tournament and Wendy, too. Wendy is one of favorite characters (not to be a lolicon). Though, she brings variety to the table unlike the big boobed girls in Fairy Tail.
  • Speaking of Wendy, Lisanna and Happy's search scene for Wendy and Charle takes a good chunk of this episode.
  • We got plenty of humorous scenes of Natsu's gang silly antics. I loved Erza's femdom scene. It will wake up the masochistic side of the Erza fans. Oh god, let's not talk about fetish stuff in this anime.

Bad

  • First off, this episode is slow. The beginning and the middle scenes didn't cover much. it was just Lucy and the gang getting lost until we get some action. The cameos of the other guilds was good but not satisfying enough for the fans. It's like the filler arc where they stalled. I need to check how many manga chapters they covered. I'm pretty sure this Sky Labyrinth preliminary rounds was only covered in one chapter or less of the manga.

Overall, this episode is decent but somewhat entertaining. The main problems is that it's slow with barely enough content to keep the fans entertained. Interestingly enough, we see Blue Pegasus using magic, but Sting Eucliffe and Rogue Cheney have not used their powers. We don't know what kind of Dragon Slayers they are yet.

Thanks

Thank you guys and gals for supporting the Fairy Tail franchise. You can support them by buying the manga, checking the manga from the library, watching the anime on Crunchyroll, or contributing to the wiki and discussion in this community.

Welcome to the Weekly Fairy Tail report! Another week has gone by, and the best way to end a hard week is some good old anime. That's why I enjoy watching Fairy Tail and other shows on Friday.

Plot Summary

The Fairy Tail gang arrive to Crocus with big ambitions of winning the tournament. Little do they know the surprises that lies in store for them.

Watch Fairy Tail legally on Crunchyroll.

Verdict

Beware of spoilers!

Good

Juvia fans watch out!
Juvia fans watch out!
  • We get more new teams revealing themselves: Quatro Cerberus and Mermaid Heel. Though, we don't see them interacting with anyone.
  • The Fairy Tail gang has some humorous scenes: Juvia with Gray & Lyon and Happy with Frosh & Lector. Erza fans are greeted with some fan service and cute scenes of Erza. Heck, Juvia looks really cute in this episode.
  • The introduction of the new Dragon Slayers, 3rd Generation, is executed well. I hope Natsu and Gajeel fight with Sting and Rogue in the tournament.

Here is some Erza Scarlet shots. Random Curiosity had a big batch of them.

Also, we got nice shots of the new guilds.

Bad

  • It's a slow episode, but the action is going to start next week.

Bizarre

Happy: Talking Cats?!
Happy: Talking Cats?!
  • Lucy thought Wendy was into drug dealing or some illegal activities. I thought it was prostitution but the show is for kids. Don't pay attention to my dirty mind.
  • Ichiya pop in Erza's Jellal fantasy is a great scene.

Overall, this episode is much better than the last few episodes. It's just slow a bit, but it had a lot of new stuff plus silly antics with some mild fan service.

Hey everyone and welcome to the Fairy Tail weekly report! I have to cut this report short since things are getting hectic with school.

Plot

There are only five days left 'til the Grand Magic Games begin, but Natsu and company still aren't ready for it. But then they meet up with Crime Sorciere, a small, independent guild led by an old frenemy. The members of this newish guild promise to help Fairy Tail "power up" in exchange for a favor...

By Crunchyroll

Verdict

Good

Oh Happy, you little troll
Oh Happy, you little troll
  • For you Erza and Jellal fans, this episode is a home run with you guys who support this pair.
  • Little Happy also finds Erza's relationship hilarious. I just enjoy how he trolls Erza like he does with the Fairy Tail crew.
  • We also got a few new characters who appeared, the Raven Tail Guild as well as Jellal's gang making their Time Skip Debut.

Bad

  • Cheaters: Natsu's gang skipped training and took Ultear's Time Ark steroids to get stronger. I wasn't happy with how Hiro Mashima did this. It didn't make a lick of sense when Ultear explains how everyone has a latent magic orb.
  • Like water and fire, those who oppose Erza x Jellal will not find this episode enjoyable.

This episode is a hit or miss with the fans. You'll love it if you enjoy Erza and Jellal as well as little humourous moments with Natsu, Meredy, Juvia, and the gang. For the bad stuff, it was a slow episode with a poor way of having Natsu's crew upped their magic. It's like the Exball element in Edolas where they gained back their magic. It's more interesting to see Fairy Tail struggling and doing something creative to solve their problems instead of just doing the easy way. In Natsu's case, overpowering the enemies by taking magical steroids.

Plot

Welcome to the weekly Fairy Tail report. I'm proud to announced that the Starry Sky/ Filler arc is finished! Though, we get to see Byro and his gang for one more time in this episode.

After Makarov accepts Byro's apology, the Fairy Tail gang and Legion have a wild party. Then, Makarov has a word with Gildartz and the others reach some closure with each other. Meanwhile, two mysterious strangers appear. It's Sting and Rogue, the newest Dragon Slayers in the anime.

Verdict

Beware of spoilers!

Good

  • Juvia: Gray, who is this guy?
Juvia: Gray, who is this guy?
Finally this filler arc ends. We get a bit of Sting and Rogue and news that Gildartz is the new guild master. Wonder how Gildartz will handle leadership.
  • While Lucy and Mary's scene is touching, Juvia and Dan's scenes are funny. I love how Dan is frighten by Juvia or the fact that Juvia ignores that Gray's beauty attracts men such as Sugarboy. The part where Natsu tries to make Byro smile is awkward yet humorous.
  • Theme songs are great. The ending is mellow and shows Mavis who we haven't seen much. The opening is also mellow, and I like how it shows all of the guilds fighting in the tournament.

Bad

  • For those who want to get into the main storyline, the first half is just filler part where they party. It was a slow episode.

Bizarre

  • The cats are in strange color. When I first saw Frosh in the manga, I thought he is in a green or blue frog suit, and his fur is red. Instead, we get a pink frog. For me, I thougt Lector was suppose to be orange or yellow. I don't mind the colors.
  • In the opening, team Fairy Tail had purple outfits. It's a unique color to say the least.

Overall, the episode is average but good. It's just slow when you looking at the Fairy Tail characters catching up with Legion and there is some exposition on Zeref and Sabertooth's part.

Thanks

Thank you guys for reading this report.

Hey everyone and welcome to the Fairy Tail weekly report! Last week, Lucy receives the shock of her life when she discovers her beloved cousin who is like a sister is her enemy. Natsu and Lucy wind up getting captured. It's up to the Fairy Tail gang to rescue them.

Plot

As Natsu and the Jiggle Butt Gang break out of their prison cell, Erza and the Fairy Tail gang ride Christina to stop the Oracion Seis from unleashing the nightmare that affects everyone's sense of time.

Can they save the day?

Verdict

Beware of spoilers!

Good

The first Big Butt Bandits' cool moment
The first Big Butt Bandits' cool moment
  • Despite the jiggle butt gang, it was actually pretty tame. For some weird reason, I enjoyed Natsu and their breaking out scene a lot.
  • We got more background info on Jude Heartphilia. Too bad, it's all filler information. Lucy is damn naive, but Imitatia had some feelings for her. Kindness is pretty contagious, eh guys and gals?
  • Mirajane's fight scene is unexpected and fun to watch. I enjoyed everyone's fights except for Natsu. He just overwhelm people with just brute force.

Bad

So looking forward to seeing her fight
So looking forward to seeing her fight
  • We didn't get anywhere much. It's just a big exposition and set up for new things to come.

Bizarre

Trivia: The Fairy Tail women wore the suit but not the men
Trivia: The Fairy Tail women wore the suit but not the men
  • If Celestial Wizards' Anti Link is severed and turn into a chrystallis stage, how come Katja is all normal?
  • Interestingly, Natsu declined to wear the Big Butt Bandits' tight spandex outfit. I realized it was the girls who wore them. Not a single man from Fairy Tail wore the spandex.

Overall, the episode is good but not awesome. It's just a slow episode where they set up things. I'm interested in the nightmare that affects everyone's sense of time. It's an interesting chaos element.

Thanks
