Last episode, I said the show was feeling more like ESCAFLOWNE, but the needle’s definitely pointing back to EVANGELION in this one. Whoo boy… some heady concepts floating around here.
I wasn’t inclined to rewind the stream to double check the precise details in the dialog, so how about we play a game? I’ll rattle off some points that lay out the new details of the mythos as I understand them and you lunatics award or subtract the relevant honorary XP depending on what I get right or wrong.
Alright, here goes…
- The federation’s essentially been using these big ass missiles to pile drive this world in the hope of unearthing more podlings they can turn into mecha.
- They may be getting some results from this "Project Orange," but what they’re inadvertently doing is irritating the world’s immune system and that system’s now sending out huge antibodies who are now attacking humans en masse.
- Continuing to shoot missiles into the ground is a really bad idea, because they might wake up the slumbering “scubs” that the antibodies are protecting. Once woken, these scubs will inventory the number of sentient lifeforms that are currently living in the universe and, upon finding that number to be excessive, will active a maelstrom of wacky physics that'll eradicate more life than you can imagine.
- Eureka is actually a creation of the immune system whose purpose is to reach out to the humans and convince them to stop firing those damn missiles so the scubs don’t have to be awoken and annihilation can be averted.
If I’ve got that all right, I get the coveted +9000 Honorary XP. If not, then I suppose I’ll have to start watching these episodes with a notepad and an infographic.
